Hey all,
Well I will add my long winded two cents in here. I have ridden on Dunlap, Metzler, and Michelin. I have been riding for coming up on 40 years with over 350,000 miles on motorcycles much as a motor officer.
My opinion is:
Dunlops suck, they do not measure up to any of the tires we are talking about today,
Metzlers are a great handling tire, good mileage, a little squirmy in the rain. The down side is the ride comfort. they are a hard, stiff walled, high air pressure tire. I have them on a spare set of rims for the harley's but do not run them.
Avons, are the best for twisty need all the grip you can get roads. good tire, fantastic in the summer when you can get them really hot, they do really well. the down side, mileage, the grip has to give something for the road and rubber is it. no other complaints on the Avons.
Michelin Commander.,A fabulous tire, exceptional ride, terrific grip especially in the rain and crummy road conditions. They are the softest, quietest ride tire I have ever ridden on they make no road noise. I mean none.
From bottom to top are my choices / opinions after putting miles on each type.
Oh, I have OEM on my CVO Road Glide and I hate them. Lousy ride, hard, noisy in the corners, bad on anything but perfect no sand , grit or water kind of road.
