What did you ride before the SEEG
« on: April 20, 2004, 02:28:21 AM »

Hi Guys/Gals. What did you ride before the SEEG and how does it compare?
I will be coming off a fatboy,How are your new bikes around town? On the Highway? How would the stock 103 compare to a stage one 88ci efi? Do you miss the wind on your face? Are the lowers too hot?Am I too young at 42 to drive such a bike?
I really like those SEEG and would like to hear your experiences just to keep me motivated on my 2005 SEEG deposit. Thanks in advance. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Haaaaa...too funny.  Too young???  Well...I'm 29.  I thought like that too, but I figure that with all of the touring that I do, I would rather be comfortable and have great performance all the while.  I have had NO ONE tell me that this looks like a grandpa bike, like I used to hear about the Ultras.  Even with the tourpak that I have used once so far.  I had a 99 Road King with a 95 inch engine and this 103 absolutely rocks.  I had the stage II kit on the 95er and I can't believe the power in this motor with just the pipes and breather and remap.  I LOVE this bike...period.  I thought I would never trade in my Road King, but this bike just grabbed my attention and held it.  I actually dreamed about it before I got it.

Great questions, 1 Suzuki, 2 Hondas before 25, 2 Sportsters a Road King and a Fatboy and a few others since. The SEEG handles around town better than my Road King did and equal to the Fatboy. Highway, hands down the best ride I have ever had. But like some who have owned an Ultra, I have not. Lowers too hot, temp here has only had two days in the 80's and those were not bad but I came home and ordered the vents for the lowers as I could tell it will get warm, but so was the Road King.
Age, I am also 42, the wife told me the Ultra was for Grandpas three years ago when I settled on the Road King, and I mean settled, I wanted an Ultra and she thought I was not old enough yet. After 20 plus years of playing Rugby and thirty plus of riding  I am ready for comfort but still want performance and of course a sporty look.
Last year my daughter had my first Grandchild, So I figured the SEEG was the way to go and it is the *(%@ as far as I am concerned.
The Road King had 88 EFI Stage 1 and the 103 Stage 1 is far better feel. Not lacking of power like I felt a littel when it was the wife and I and fully packed. I am fully satisfied and I think this one will not leave the stable, just join the others, in a short month or so I am convinced that the SEEG I will not part with in my lifetime.

Just what I was hoping to hear, when I saw the 2004 seeg I couldn't get over it.Plus if you do the math ,buying a regular bike and adding what I would add brings the price close to the SEEG but without all the options the Seeg has.Hope they have good colors next year. Thanks guys. [smiley=bigok.gif]

Hi vroom, glad to see another Canuck here. Just picked my SEEG up the other day so still in the breakin period but handles way better than my 98 FLHTC and I can feel the difference in power even at break in speed. Also the hydraulic clutch is sweeet.

Was on an 02 road king with a big bore kit, race tuner, WB 2 into 1 exhaust.  This bike will smoke it stock.  To young you are as old as you feel,  Wish the kids had gone sooner.

Hi NSRIDER,This year I am taking the short trip to Sturgis on the Fatboy and will be packing light with lots of bungee cords.I really hope to ride my SEEG to your neck of the woods someday.I have never been to eastern Canada but I hear it is beautiful and I love Lobster and  [smiley=beerchug.gif] so oneday I will go.I have always loved the Road Kings but might as well go all the way eh? and have the toons and power. One thing I love about the states is the no helmet laws.I have been bitten by the traveling bug and to me the Seeg is the ticket,I look forward to hearing about your future riding experiences and Mods. I will definatley look for a bit more power out of this bike.

Be careful vroom...check the HOG website for helmet laws.  I know that all of Canada is helmet-zone, but many states down here are too.  Some take it very seriously (North Carolina).  Unbelievable.  Ride safe, and take care up north.

[smiley=laugh.gif]

Let's see... after a 20 year break from scoots I started off with a 2001 883 Sportster. Only 553 miles later I traded that in on an 2002 Road King Classic. I kept the RKC for about 1-1/2 years and traded it in on a 2003 Ultra Classic.  I only had the Ultra for three months (8000 miles!) and no matter what I did to it it just didn't have the "cool factor" I was looking for. So I sold it and bought the SEEG. How does the SEEG compare?  Best bike so far. It looks cool and runs fast and with a tour-pak I'll be ready for another 6000+ mile trip this summer. I plan to keep this one a while!

I had an o3 Fatboy.  Huge difference between stock 88 and 103.  SEEG is totally awesome.

Had taken almost 20 years off riding and bought a 1500 Goldwing and then an 1800 when they came out in 2001, that bike now has almost 40,000 miles.  After my return trip from Dayton Biketoberfest last fall I saw the SEEG on the HD web site & knew I had to have it.  22 dealers later found one and have very much enjoyed the bike.  The SEEG has much more 'fun factor" & "cool factor" than the wing - but you guys already know that!!  On the other had I still enjoy riding my wing and for our trip to upper New York State this summer I took the wing, we did 4200 miles.

For me both bikes are a blast to ride and each has a different riding style although (I know many of you will not like this) the wing has more power than the SEEG and even though I have put breather kit, pipes and tuner on the bike I still find it under powered but as i said very much enjoy the bike!!!

Coming off a Dyna Wide Glide to my SEEG I received a bit of ball busting from some friends and family [smiley=laugh4.gif] (i sold my last electric glide in 1985, I felt like an old man then, mostly because it was slow) after everyone has seen this scooter the ribbing has stopped, [smiley=cool.gif] they all say that it does not look like your grandfathers scooter and after my last three trips I have realized what I was missing (radio, cruise control, plush ride) but I have to say the 103" motor is what really makes it for me!!! (i love HP [smiley=love.gif])

02 Ultra Classic, before that 89 Ultra Classic, before that 86 stroked Heritage and 89 Sportster and 87 Sportster, before that, I was buying and selling so fast.....for profit.....that I don't remember what order they came and went.
