upgraded fairing speakers ( help!!)
« on: May 23, 2010, 09:43:30 PM »

looking for some input     is there a dramatic difference with replacing the stock fairing speakers alone without an amplifier ? i dont need the whole world to hear the music, but i would like to hear it "clearly" going down the highway at 70-80 mph

I replaced mine with the Hogtunes.  Better not dramatic.  If doing it over I'd recommend the J&M 7.25" I've seen/heard these a number of times and believe they are the best choice.

I first installed the J&M 7.25" speakers and later, their amp.  The difference was pronounced both times.  Contact Shawn at DrVtwn here on the site. They have very good prices on audio amps & speakers and good customer service.

Others have written about wanting to upgrade speakers without upgrading the amp.  Trust me, the amp is worth it!   :2vrolijk_21:  While you can get better sound by upgrading speakers, the HD head unit just does not have enough power to give you any dynamic range out of the speakers.  Install of the amp was night and day better.

My SERG came with the older Hogtunes speakers and their amp. They're not bad really, but I wanted something better for the highway (since I have a 12" KW shield, and wear earplugs with a shorty helmet). I ordered the J&M speakers only, and will use the Hogtunes amp with it. I'll post a review once I get them.

And yes, order from Dr VTwin for sure-great guys and great prices. :2vrolijk_21:

I had The hogtunes speakers and amp in my serg. Real improvement. Installed the J&M 7.25 's in my 2010 seuc. The seuc has a factory amp. This swap is comparable and imho is sharper and cleaner. Don't see any need for change in amp unless I decide to make tp detachable.
