I found this item on eBay today and was curious if anyone has used it or heard of it before?

The item is called a "COOL COLLAR" and used to be sold by Harley directly.

Nothing new there.  These used to be all over dealer shelves and in the aftermarket.  They don't even look bad.  A bit "gimicky" but they had a decent run of interest.  Then they just faded away.

Was there any truth to the cooling it provided?  Looking for ways to cool the bike without getting into "warranty" issues as I extended the factory warranty for 7yrs.

Good copy writers always told us there was truth to the claim....

So it must be true.  Right?

Ok, sure, if you increase the surface area that is in the wind it's going to cool more.  And adding fins will do that.  The question is how much more will it cool?  A tiny bit.

At the high temps our bikes run, even a tiny bit helps.  I use it and it looks ok too.

I used one for years on my EVO, did it help, I think it did, I do know it was larger, had fins and was easy to take off and on for oil changes so I stayed with it, never had a motor issue and the bike was bored put with forged pistons, Screamin Eagle Heads, Cams and all new electronics.

By the way back then 1994, it was $20.00 plus shipping.

I was looking for one for my CVO just because I like the looks, thanks for the link.
