Need advise, Tour Pak, Hard Bags for my 07 SERK
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:55:40 AM »

Have decided to put tour pak and hard bags on my 07 SERK instead of buying a new SESG or a SEUC, Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to look for these and what i need to look for. Will it have to be any certain year or make to fit a Road King? I'm not real crazy about the King Tour Pak over the Chopped, but the King i think will give my wife more support for her back than the Chopped Pak, And thats the only reason i'm thinking about doing this is for her back, i'm getting tired of these 100 to 150 mile rides in a day and having to stop so much.

Any advise will be a great help.

I had a used tour pak painted, used bags painted and deadcenter removable fairing painted.. Then sold the bike and bought an ultra..I cant explain it.

It may be easier to buy new bags in primer than finding used...jussayinzall.

Miker, Thats kinda what i thought, I had looked sometime ago just for the hard bags on e-bay and craig's list and could not find any, Was not and have not looked for a tour pak which maybe even harder to find.

Which tour pak did you use? King or chopped? I think the chopped would look better but as ststed in my post i think the king will give my wife more support for her back.

I went through this same routine last year.  I lucked up and found a set of primered hard bags on Ebay for $350 (no hardware) and snatched them up as quickly as I could.   :bananarock:

I've seen other sets out there but not for that price...

I looked for a tour pak for several months and finally gave up and bought one new from Chicago Harley with all of the requisite hardware such as the chrome hinges and passenger backrest (20% off of list).  I can't speak to the chopped tour pak but I'm very happy with the king and my BSR likes the support as well.

I could probably dig up a bunch of part numbers if you'd like them but I don't have them right in front of me at the moment.

I used the king, just cant find a picture on this computer..speaker pods too...The king is nicer for her and you won't mind all the extra room it has...Good luck hunting down the parts..And the new plastic parts are lighter than the old fiberglass ones...go plastic...

Wife and i have been talking this morning, Think the King will be the best way to go, Won't need the speaker pods, Not sure i will go with Fairing and even if i do don't think i will have a radio will just be plain on inside of fairing.

Ok, I believe that I found everything in the way of part numbers for what I've done...

90948-00                Saddlebag Hardware Kit
53710-93                Keyed to Match Saddlebag Locks
53194-07                Keyed to Match Tour Pak Lock
53332-06BHY   King Tour Pak - Vivid Black w/ Silver Pinstripes - No Lights or Antenna Mounts
52892-98A   Smooth King Tour Pak Backrest
79211-08A   Premium Tour Pak Hinges
53302-07                Fitted Tour-Pak Liner Kit
53548-02A   Saddlebag Lid Organizer

I didn't mention it before but I went the Memphis Shades route on a fairing.  I still need to get it painted to match but so far I'm happy with it as well.  Those part numbers are:

2330-0017   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing
2320-0048   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing Hardware Kit
2350-0111   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing Wind Deflectors
2350-0128   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing Polished Stainless Steel Trim - Slim Style
2310-0216   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing 7" Black Windshield
2310-0217   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing 9" Black Windshield
3508-0011   Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing Windshield Storage Pouch

Here's a thread with how it looks --

Majorrocky, Do you by any chance know the part number for the detachable tour pac rack that will work on these SERK? My dealer tells me nothing will work because in 07 the rear fender and tire was wider than a Road King or on the RK Custom.

Or if anyone else has run into this problem and knows what the part # is.

I had one on mine, so it exists...but when you are lining up the tour pak to mount, you may need to put a little"wow" in the bracket...A little tight as I recall.

I will also mention that you can go aftermarket to get these parts.  My bags and backrest came from ebay (if you are patient you can usually find what you need at a decent price).  And the tour pak is an aftermarket item I got off of ebay as well.

I suspect your dealer is either uneducated or lazy  >:( ... there's quite a few SERK's out there with detachable tour paks -- mine being one of them  ;)

Now...having said that, mine is in '08 so I can't specifically speak for an '07 other than to say I ride with a guy who has an '07 SERK and he has the same setup I do...  :2vrolijk_21:

Part numbers that I purchased are:
53276-04  Detachable Two-Up Tour-Pak Mounting Rack
53988-07  Touring Detachable Docking Hardware Kit

The only problem that I can mention (and not really a "problem") is that the back two "slots" on the mounting rack are kind of tight fitting to the mounting points.  I have to line up the front two tabs and get them situated first, then ease the back two slots down on top of the mounting points.. but before they will drop low enough to click / lock I have to push them out (away from the bike) bout 1/4 inch first.  That widens it out enough to drop into place so that it can be locked.  I'm making it sound a lot worse than it really is but it's a little difficult to explain -- and it may not be that way on all of them.

Let me know if I can help further.

I have the same bike as yours (yr. & color) i have looked on here for a photo of it to show my wife, and thanks for the info.  :2vrolijk_21:
