Removing tour pak
« on: May 25, 2010, 07:45:37 AM »

I'm wanting to have a removeable tour pak but I see the radio amp is under the pak.  What do you do with the amp?? Where do you relocate it?

Some folks have moved it to one of the saddle bags.

Here's a thread I started with instructions on how I made the TP detachable on my 2010 SE Ultra http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=45226.0

I'm nearly finished with the conversion...I removed the stock amp, replaced it with a Hawg Wired amp that mounts inside the batwing...incredible difference in quality of sound with the upgraded amp.

not sure if this helps since you got rid of your amp already.  I did the quick conversion on my 06 seuc.  the hk amp fits perfectly in the saddlebad filler peice( if thats what its called. the peice between the fender and saddle bags).  I just had to take off the right rear fender supports to get the big plug to fit down there so it was all hidden.  Bought 2 pieces of 1/8 in steele pieces from ace hardware drilled 2 holes in them after measuring them. then use your bottom and top bolt that holds on your fill piece then bolt the other end to the bold holes in your amp.  fits great there and no rewiring.  I put 2 zip ties on it just in case something would happen.  If you need i can show you some pics.

I haven't been in any big rain storms yet.  I am thinking it has to be pretty water proof to be in its original location it came in.  Don't really see it getting much direct water on it in this location either.  If i ever have any problems with it will let you guys know.
