Heavy breather vs stock
« on: May 26, 2010, 05:59:12 PM »

Will I gain anything by adding the heavy breather on my FLTRSE3 in place of the stage 1 that came stock?

I would say now that I have had two of them one on my 08 SEUC that when I took the lowers off it really worked effectively but on my 10 SEUC with the lowers on I don't feel its getting enough air so I just switched it out with a Thompson Intake. It has less than 3 days on it and I will sell it for $200.00.

Do you know the part number?  HD lists 2 of them for touring bikes with and without lowers.

It is the shorter one that can be used with lowers.

I believe I remember Steve from Fullsac posting some time ago that he experienced a 2 hp increase on the dyno with the Heavy Breather versus the Ventilator (stock A/C on the SERG).  That's not a significant difference, so unless you just like the look better I don't see any compelling reason to swap one for the other.

On the dyno, the Heavy Breather is the king of HP and TQ.
Jerry's right, in the real world of asphalt, 2 hp isn't much.
Never ever dismiss 2 hp on a dyno chart. People will roll it up and club you with!
