Oil on bottom of left side pipe
« on: June 02, 2010, 08:41:10 PM »

I have a 09 SERG. I noticed a small oil spot at the end of my left pipe. There was some oil on the bottom of the pipe. I put the bike on the lift and checked everwhere I could see and everything looks dry. There was no oil inside the pipe.
Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas?
I'm leaving for Texas Tuesday and I know I won't be able to get my bike ino the dealer before then.
Just bought a Corbin Dual Touring seat with the backrest for the trip. Did 600 miles on it over the weekend and I love it. I didn't realize what a piece of crap the stock seat was until I got the Corbin.

Check the shifter shaft seal where it goes into the transmission.  Not sure on the newer bikes, but the older ones like mine are known for their crappy seal and always leak until you put in an aftermarket seal.

Check to make sure drain plug and oil filter are tight. My bike had oil on the left side and I found that the oil filter was loose. Bike had 100 miles on it!
