Dealer MAP or tuner?
« on: June 03, 2010, 09:55:36 AM »

If (God forbid) you don't plan on making additional engine mods in the future, is there any reason not to have a dealer re-MAP your ECM over buying a race tuner?

Forgive any stupidity, I'm emerging from the world of the carb.

get a good tuner like a tts  cause, i used to say  id never make a change,  ttsw is pricey  but after a stg 1 dealer map  for rev limit change and a a/c ,  then ,making a cam change the u have to get a stage 2 down load from dealer,  it almost pays to buy a tuner from the start  for future changes,  saves a lot of unhappy cursing too

I would expand the question to a dealer download compared to a qualified tuner (maybe an independent). I'd do with the tune, because you most likely will do additional mods.

Partially, the tts can make you happy. The download can be rich. Here is a comparison. Run #1 is with the download.
Run #16 is the first run on the TTS base map, before tuning. Stock 96" with air cleaner and V&H Longshots.
