Mapping Choices for new exhausts
« on: June 03, 2010, 02:00:21 PM »

I have a 08 FXDSE2, after looking and listening to all the others I decided on installing the V&H big radius 2into2 pipes. That was the easy part. Next I wanted to find out what tuner to use. I have talked to all of the dealers in my area plus folks I know that build bikes. What I found out is that eveyone has a different opinion on which way to go. I have a shop in town that has a dyno set  up that is unbelievable. He tells me that he believes hands down that the Power Commander is the only way to go because it can set the mixtures for every rideing condition. He can adjust the bike computer mixture for 10% to 90% throttle in 10% increments plus it sets the mixture for each 100 rpms increments. The supertuner sold by HD maps only at certain conditions or for less situations. What have you heard about the pros and cons of the power commander verses the supertuner?

First you need to find a "good" tuner/technician that you can trust and his abilities are highly noted.... then use whatever tuning method (SSERT, PCV, TTS, etc) that he suggests. More then likely the tuning device he recommends will be the one he's most proficient/comfortable with.

Even a TTS base CVO map will produce big gains. Have a look at this thread...

Thanks for the feed back. I feel comfortable with going with the PCV and the shop that I am going to take it to. Check out his web site.  dyno-power.com  Takin the bike in on tuesday let ya know how it works when I get it back.
