Good afternoon,
Greetings from Chester, England. I've had bikes since my mother told me No and I bought an ironhead sportster in a rigid frame. For a while I lived in California where my HD RK Classic took me to work and back for over three years. Loved the bay area, but moved back to the UK to take care of my mom just after my dad died that was 10 years ago.
Not had a bike or a HD again until this year when a well known chopper builder Phil Piper of England built a bike for me - I'd been waiting for 18 months. I've forgotten just how much I've missed bikes and now my wife want's to get in on the act. First thought of another build with Phil - this time a softail - wife not happy says she want's comfort not a bling machine.
So, off we went to the HD dealer in Chester and Max (Maxine) get's all excited about a new Electraglide Ultra with the bags and a 96" motor sitting on the shop floor. Since taking delivery of the chop my view is less is more and so I'm non too fussed at a full on bagger as you could imagine. Nothing wrong with Ultra's or top boxes - just not my thing.
She say's it's the same price as a custom build and more comfortable for her and she can speak to me with the intercom - Is this a sales point? Then the salesman get's involved to the point it's two against one. I'm somewhat pissed so I says to him tongue in cheek that there's no way your getting me on one of those or any HD that comes from the factory.
He says wanna bet? Yes I do. Takes me out back and shows me a 2010 Street Glide CVO in a deep rum colour with gold leaf, a 110 motor all the chrome, toys, lowered etc etc. Mine for a great price. Max flips say's it's exactly what she want's - she's never ridden or been on a bike before and it will look nice against the chopper in the garage.
Longer story short - I or is that Max bought a spiced rum 2010 CVO SG that is waiting for a set of V+H pipes and a stage 1 before we pick her up next week.
I'm thrilled and looking forward to giving you an update in a few weeks time.
Cheers,
Adam
