Question for you CVO Glide owners. Is there anything on a CVO Ultra Classic that you wished your Glide had? If so what is it and have you or are you going to add it.  :bananarock:

Heated Seat - probably won't get
Heated Hand Grips - Maybe
XM Radio - Doubtful, listen to MP3s on my Road Tech 660.
Highway Pegs - hoping they'll come out as accessories, so they won't be so expensive to get.
Tour Pak - no need; have one on the SEUC.
Lowers - no need; have them on the SEUC.

My guess is you've now spent more on your CVO Glide then I did on my SE Ultra.

And you're still missing a CB, LED TP Brake Lights, LED Interior lights for the Saddlebags and TP, 12v outlet in TP, Soft luggage for the TP and Saddlebags, Power Locks for the TP and Saddlebags, built in garage door opener, Passing lights, color-matched fairing interior and an Intercom system between the rider/passenger.

All of a sudden I feel like the SE Ultra was a deal by comparison.

Leg fairings......already added them
Heated seat.....I'd of had to switch to Corbin anyway....Harley's never made a comfortable long distance seat
Highway pegs....(do the come stock on an Ultra Classic?).....got them
Quick release tour pack.....the Ultra Classic doesn't come with that, so I'd of had to spend a small fortune converting to the Hawg Wired system
Color matched inner fairing.....already done it

I need the space for long distance touring more than I need lights in my tour pack.
Have a 12v charger in the way of a cigarette lighter.....put my phone in the leg fairing and charge it on the fly.....doesn' take up room in the tour pack.
The CB radio would be useless to me.....never used them in either of my other Ultra Classics
I'd have to remove the passenger floor boards.
Don't care for the exterior mounted amplifier
I prefer the lighter Street Glide over the Ultra Classic, especially at the end of an 800 miles day!

In short......I got the bike that I wanted and spent a bucket load of money to make it a 2010 SEEG.
Jon got the bike he wanted (SEUC) and spent a bucket load of money to make it SEEG.  Except Jon spent a bucket load more than me just to get the Ultra Classic.  You can see both of these bikes in this thread, side by side (they look pretty much the same, just different paint).....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=50136.0

I agree that both bikes have their audience. Just pointing out that if you intend to add a TP, heated seats, heated grips, lower fairings, XM radio and passenger floorboards to your CVO Glide, you'll weigh the same as an Ultra and it'll cost you more $ than if you had just bought a CVO Ultra to start with.

Essentially you'll get all the other features (CB, passing lights, intercom system, painted inner fairing, LED lighting, soft luggage, TP charger outlet) for free on the CVO Ultra by comparison to upgrading a Glide. If you add in a detach TP kit to the Ultra, you'll essentially have a Street Glide and a whole lot of extras for less $ than if you want a CVO SG that can convert into an Ultra. The other advantage for the guy trying to decide which bike and he's looking for a bike that can be converted in either direction, you'll get more of your $ back on the Ultra than you will with the SG and all the add-ons. If the SG is what you want as is than its certainly the better value.

BTW, both bikes look very very sharp and those canyon shots look fantastic. Looks like a really memorable Memorial Day Ride.

Naaa... I went through this exercise.  The CVO Ultra MSRP 36,500... the Crimson Black was 38,500.  My SESG was 31,000 out the door.  I put a KTP with rear speakers, Rinehart True Duals, and Auxiliary lights.  I am at $35k after labor for install of all the stuff.

I like the custom look of the SESG rearend better.

I would have had to add at least slipon to the Ultra and change the KTP to be quick disconnect (around town don't need it).  (adding 1,500 to 2k to the purchase price)

In the end the SESG worked out better for me, but to each his own.

Enjoy your SEUC...

Yep, have over $10,000 in 'extras' as of now but it was the 'color' that sold me  . If they would of had a Tequila Sunrise in an CVO Ultra then we would of had an issue  :nixweiss:

Ok I'll turn the question on you is there anything you would take off (detachable) to make it a street glide ;D

OK I'll bite. The only thing I would buy for the Ultra that I WOULDN'T buy for the StreetGlide also are the extended bags and the rear lighting system. With parts and paint I would come out cheaper on the Ultra than turning the SG into a SEEG/SEUC combo.

Thank you.  I was about to correct him on that point (the purchase price difference, up front).  Except that you forgot to change out the reare fender, lights, etc. and add streatched saddle bags to get the cool look of the Street Glide.  Kind of like comparing apples to oranges here.

Again, I think Jon and I are the two closest examples of this (my SESG w/mods added and his SEUC stripped down and rear end changed) of anybody on this board.  We aren't shooting in the dark......we ar living this experience!  In the end, I'm damn glad I did it my way......I could take the difference he's paid and take a very nice vacation. :2vrolijk_21:

Hey Thanks you guys brought up some great points. I was trying to see which way I wanted to go. I think I will roll with the 09 SEUC even thou it has some extras I really don't use all the time. CB, Heated seat, grips, lowers. I think I would like to be able to remove the TP, that has proved to be very handy on my 03RKC. Like one of the other posts said for me it is about the colors!

Right now that's very true, but here's a thought.
What would happen if both of you stop the mods where you are right now and rode each bike 58K miles and at that point decided to sell each bike at suggested NADA or KBB price?
At that point IMHO I think Jon could take the difference and take himself a very nice vacation.
But for me it's not about the cost, it's about the fun and pleasure these machines allow us to have.
When that's factored in, it's a moot point as to how much one has spent on their bike or what it's worth.
