I use this one on all three MC's.  I believe it works, we have seen the Deer stop long enoughto look & give us that extra margin.

I wish I had the link, but I researched this when I moved to the country, since there are deer everywhere. From what I found, there was no conclusive evidence that any of these audible devices really worked. If they don't hear your car/bike, or see your lights,  I doubt a whistle will work. Again, no experience, and I'd love to believe they worked, just my 2 cents.

Having hit a deer at 80 mph once...I have deer alerts mounted to my bike.

No idea of they work or not, but I figure they can't hurt.   :nixweiss:

I haven't hit another deer since mounting them...so...... ::)

And we all hope that you never do. :2vrolijk_21:

Everybody doesn't hit one but a hell of a lot of people do.  San Jose Duke hit one a couple of years ago.  Holly, a lady friend of ours hit one the same year.

I'm curious if anybody that's had deer whistles mounted and using them has ever hit a deer? :nixweiss:

My riding buddy hit a deer a year to the day after I hit my deer.  He has also installed deer whistles on his bike.  Seriously - in the Wisconsin north woods where our cabin is located, deer are more than plentiful.  I have watched many many deer look my way and jump into the woods away from me.  Again, no idea if they work, but....   :nixweiss:

Who knows if they really work.....I have my doubts

I am lucky to never have hit one but have come pretty close to have the ass pucker.

(your ass wants out through your mouth)

Most of the deer strikes around here the riders lived through it, but it was real ugly

I hope the whistles do not give anyone a false sense of security though.

Having had the privilege of hitting a deer in my past, I can assure everyone it would be foolish to develop a false sense of security around deer....deer alerts mounted or not....

Living all my life in central to northern Michigan until '02, I've hit 7 deer in cars, trucks and motorhomes, none on any of my cycles.

I saw a lot of the alerts sold all over the place and saw a lot on cars/trucks etc.  Not sure if they work or not, but in Michigan I think they have over 80k car/deer accidents/year.  That's lot of injuries as well as property damage.  I'm not sure what the cycle/deer kill was and I can't guess who the winner is in a serious bike/deer hit; both losers in my book.

Here in St. Louis Mo, they have deer issues in the major city.  One of the uppity suburbs have hired sharpshooters and some reports say they are using rifles with silencers to thin the herd.

When riding I always try to ride in the center of the road and when in Michigan the traffic wasn't so have I always rode the freeway down the center line.  My thought was that I had a fighting chance from either side of the road if one came up.

But like all of us know, if one comes up and you're even looking, it's too late.

The high pitched dog whistles work and I believe that's somewhat the same process on the deer alerts.

I'm sure someone will do a search on them and report back to us all.

Regarding the XP3, I still don't know why you would want an on/off switch and don't want the added complexity of another switch on bike.  Guess the neighborhood dogs would just have to yelp.

That look they give just means they are thinking; "Can I beat this guy across the road?"

I have had enough close calls myself and I don't know if the deer whistles work or not although most that use them say, haven't hit one yet so they must be working.  ;D
