Did just see one thing at least moderately interesting.  Listed in the accessory blurb for the new radio is a choice of antenna options.  People adding the radio to their EG Standards can use the old tried and true tour pak mounted antenna or a new 06 part number for a "frame mounted antenna."  The part number given is 46325-06 .

It's not in the accessory section by itself yet and could find no pictures anyplace that illustrated it.  But for those who don't like the whip but haven't done the Dakota Digital thing or others like that you may have a new option.

And here was another.  Not a super big deal but an idea that should have been there anyway.  The alarm siren and the alarm pager transmitter combined in to one unit.

And no life saving ABS system.  Technology is years old now but it's not worth saving our lives......that'd be too much like modern technology for HD also!  Why do they stay stuck in the stone age?

And why do we never see and get a chance to talk to Willie G. at the Ralleys and HOG functions, etc. that we used too?  Now is when we'd like to be heard guys......now that CVOs are a product, we'd really like some face time.

I just ordereg from www.biketron.com a sony in dash XM ready deck CD-MP3 and all that, an audiovox/Turk adapter-XMtuner, BT-1000 wiring kit and speakers (2) to replace the FLHTCSE speakers. He said the speakers he included are better than the current, if I did not like them, send em back.
The total bill will be around $700. You can get cheaper by about $150 with a cheaper deck.
I ordered all the stuff from them for several reasons.
1) They assemble and test the complete setup before shipment to be sure deck, XM receiver, antenna and such are working and compatible.
2)The BT-1000 kit, $200 includes the mounting hardware designed for any electra glide fairing. Digital antenna for under the fairing and a wiring harness that connects from a compatible Sony deck to existing HD wiring. No chopping of wires.
3) The audiovox/turk XM reciever and adapter, 2 boxes fit nicely on top of the deck under the fairing.
4) full installation instructions written to install in place of the existing system.
5) I also gain the rear channel speaker control if I want to add speakers in the rear later.

My hesitation to this point has been getting a full package to drop in that I like and can go back to for help. I think this is the answer.....I will let ya know next week.

Hope to have all the parts next week. Will take photos of install and let you know how it goes. My thoughts, spend $500 to $800 this way, sell the radio I have and gain quite a bit even if it costs me several hundy!

Forgot one thing, the BT-1000 also makes all controls on the handlebars work also.

You might want to call them back to verify something Rugby.  I'd started to do the same thing last year that you've just done.  After buying the radio and XM hardware based on their recommendations they then told me that their adaptor unit wouldn't work with the Screamin' Eagle Glides.  Their units were explained as only for bikes with stock radios and not for bikes with the enhanced radio kit that is stock on our bikes.  The connector that the adaptor unit attaches to is somehow different.

I asked them several times and we discussed the matter in some depth.  They remained adament that it wouldn't work.  Strongly enough, in fact, that they bought the radio and XM Kit that I'd initially purchased from another source based on their unit recommendations back from me since they were sure I couldn't use their hardware.

I'm gonna let it come and see what I get, I was very plain with them about this set up going in a FLHTCSE. He even said he has run this set up next to a FLHTCSE, so He knows what I have. We'll see how compatible it really is, I am not apart from trying and sending it back if it is all too good to be true! [smiley=confused.gif]

Just hope your luck is better than was mine.  During the conversations running up to the order the woman answering all the tech support questions also specifically knew what the bike was.  She specifically said it would work.  Then at the point of order the guy who actually had hands on and had (apparently) designed the unit got on board and stopped things informing us all it would not work.

Perhaps they've done some redesign since then as a result of that episode and now have units for both applications or perhaps they know what to tell us to do the SEEG's to make them work on their own.  Will be interested in hearing how it goes when you get the parts in hand so be sure and keep us informed  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Sorry for the long wait. The install went great, just under 3 hours taking my time. I will say that the instructions were not as clear as I would like but I took digital photos of each step. I will share them with Biketronics as well as anyone here to help.

I did not think that the first BT-1000, the item that is the brain between the new radio and the hand controls was working, so they sent me a new one. Come to find out, the instructions said " Turn on ignition switch and push the right (mode) button once to turn on radio". I was pushing once and it would not come on. The push is "push and hold a second or two until you hear a beep". Stupid me or poor instructions one of the two.  It functions this way also when moving from CD to XM to Radio.

So after several weeks of use. I am playing with the location for the antenna. Under the fairing I was losing a signal, just a couple seconds from time to time,  in dense wooded areas. I am going to try on top of the fairing and see what happens.

Only thing I have lost is the weather band, the new deck does not have it.

Up side:
XM is awesome
Everthing works like the original HD radio
This can be done for as little as $500

Photo of deck installed, all functions work with the deck cover closed as shown. push upper left button and front folds down, then you can load a cd or run by the buttons on the radio panel.
