According to the oil tests published by Amsoil, Torco ranked third right behind Amsoil and Mobil 1 V-Twin (see attachment).

Not a big difference among them, I'd choose based on availability (that's why I stick with Mobil).

Only bad thing I see is foam control. Not a good thing with air cooled motors

While the Amsoil and Mobil protect very well, Torco-equipped engines seem to be quieter, as what we believe is that oil is maintaining better lifter pump, via maintaining viscosity during operating temps.
We used to carry Amsoil, but every single person in the WORLD, can be a dealer for that company, for as little as a 20.00 dollar bill. Count me out. >:(

Torco SR-1 SAE 25W60 is a very stout oil.

There's nothing wrong with SYN3 as a motor oil, and as you can tell from that chart there are worse choices out there.  Some of those lowest ranking oils have fans that sing their praises (based on advertising hype more than real world results), and some of the highest ranking oils have highly vocal detractors.  You'll find the same thing if you start talking about oil filters, air filters, tires, boots, leather jackets, you name it.  There is a lot of information floating around that isn't based on scientific testing or anything other than people repeating the hype they've seen or heard elsewhere.

My main problem with SYN3 isn't with the actual oil, it's with the forked tongue folks who market it.  Those same folks who told everyone not to use synthetic oils in their Harleys, and intimated that it would void the warranty and cause everything short of the bubonic plague.  Then, coinciding with the day they started marketing SYN3, synthetic was good for a Harley.  And not just for the engine, but for all 3 holes!  Damned amazing, and all accomplished without a single change to the engine, primary, or transmission to accommodate that synthetic oil.  I used Mobil 1 15w50 long before there was a V-Twin or a SYN3, btw.

In other words, I wouldn't care if SYN3 had come out rated #1, I wouldn't buy it.  I don't appreciate companies that make a habit of lying to the customers, or hiding significant information to make it harder for them to buy other brands.

Very fair opinion, i wanted something that would better cope with the heat generated. With my 08 seucse3 i had problems like others finding nuetral etc after i ran Redline SP the problem was much better. The bike is due its first 5000m service and i think now would be the time to change lubes to something of better specification i have run the gasket, cylinder, recall etc route on the 08 and hopefully as i have had no such problems (yet) with the 09 this change can only but help.

I have been running straight 60W Torco in my 117" for a couple of years now. It lowered oil temps by about 20 degrees and really helped with valve train noise.
