OK, I am looking at a 2008 FXSTSSE2 (105th Anniversary Edition) and a 2009 FXSTSSE3 and can't decide which one to buy?

I love the color scheme on the 105th and not loving the flames on the 2009.  The '09 seems to have some model changes that the '08 doesn't.  They are both new bikes and can both be bought for about the same price. 

Any thoughts?

I would recommend the 2009 SE Springer, the fat rear tire makes it!!!!  And yes you would join the rest of us Flamers who own 2009s!!!

The Yellow color is interesting, but my wife and son like the Cobalt Blue.  Do you know which is the more popular color?

Go with the 105th edition, too many 09's. I was originally going to get the 105th. They are really classy and alot less of them on the road.  seems like this website is loaded with the 09 springers. Be different.

Looks like u just answered ur own question. Though IMHO the black diamond / emerald green is stunning. An interesting point to note, Im not sure of the numbers in the U.S, but here in Oz they imported something like 19 black green and 3 yellow and 3 blue of the 09 model, i guess those numbers were based on expected popularity? Good luck , have fun choosing (i also love the 240 rear end!)

I really like those exhaust you have but i have read they are not meant to fit the 09 models,

Did you have any trouble fitting them and where did you get them from...

There are actually more of the 105th anniversary 2008 FSXTSSE2's out there (serialized at 1,050 bikes) than any one color of the 2009 options.  There total production run of 2008 was also higher (2,500 vs 2,172).  Below is the 2009 production count for the 2009 year.   I can't locate the breakdown for 2008 other than that there were 1,050 anniversary models made in addition to the 2,500 other colors. 

Yellow with Orange Flames - US (315), Foreign (95), Total (410)
Blue with Silver Flames - US (550), Foreign (212), Total (762)
Black with Greem Flames - US (745), Foreign (250), Total (995)
Special - US (4), Foreign (1), Total (5)

Total overall production - US (1,614), Foreign (558), Total (2,172)

So, your best bet is to grab the Yellow 2009 because it is the most rare (not that I'm biased or anything)!
