Excellent Wheel Detailing Tool
« on: June 13, 2010, 08:49:49 PM »

:givemebeer: I had been in the market for a wheel rotating tool and came across this product on the Web.  It's a terrific tool.  It's manufactured with solid billet aluminum rollers and smooth bearings, with a very well designed steel enclosure/with built-in ramp.  The rollers (wheel) can be rotated in either direction by use of a 1/2 inch socket/ratchet.  And it's manufactured and assembled in the USA!!  (Midwest Innovative Products Inc.; Columbia, IL; www.easywheeler.com)

It's the next best thing to someone else detailing your wheels for you!

Looks like an excellent opportunity to drop the bike. Why not just get a portable lift and spin the wheels by hand? :nixweiss:

I've got a lift and having tried both, it's less effort (in my opinion) using this device.  Seems I could never get the bike centered just right on the lift to balance (forward/aft) and get it strapped down and not get scratches on the undercarriage, etc.  (I've seen the guys up on the bikes at Bike Week with the bikes on the lift not even tied down - my hats off to them.)

Nearly $200? I only paid $100 for my Derek Weaver blackjack, shipped.

Thanks.  I like it.  It's a little pricey, but very user friendly and works great.  You know how we like to tinker and always looking for a glitzier gadget to add to our motors.  I'm presently awaiting a modified (had to mill an additional channel for one of the brake lines) triple tree light relocation bar from Headwinds to relocate my turnsignals from the handle bars.  (Kurykan offers something similar which attaches to the fork sliders but I prefer Headwinds.)

Joel at Headwinds was very helpful and worked off my sketch and dimensions to modify their standard bar and also converted two of the Concour Rocket lamps with amber LED lenses.  I'll post a photo when I get it done.

Always a work in-progress.
