I have another new owner question about the windshield...
« on: June 15, 2010, 09:52:53 PM »

The bike had a Klock Werk w/s on it Saturday when I picked it up and the original w/s was given to me. It is now on the bike. My stupid question is this. There was/is a rubber gasket/trim piece on the KW. I assumed it was originally on the stocker. Now I am not so sure it was. I have looked at some pictures on line and I can't tell it is used on the stock w/s. It does fit as well on the stock w/s and I am not all that sure it will actually stay on when riding. Can someone enlighten me?

The factory W/S came with a rubber gasket trim piece and should stay on while riding if it was not cut or altered to fit the klock werks W/S. I tried  the the Klock Werks shield but was told not to use the gasket

Jus Cruisin.

The stock gasket that came as original equptment on the FLTRSE3s is about 3" wide, with 5 holes in it where the mounting screws, and anchors go into the fairing. It is shaped identically to the bottom edge of the shield with a recess that is about 8" to 10" long in the center of it.
It actually fits poorly on the Klokwerks shield. Maybe what you have is the stock gasket from a non CVO Road Glide.

Hope this helps, Ken 8)

Thanks guys. It looks like the gasket maybe came with the KW. It isn't as big and has no holes in it. I guess I will put the big ole honkin' KW back on until I can track down the right gasket for the OEM w/s.

You have to use a stock RG gasket with a Klockwerks windshield.  Fits correctly. The SERG gasket is different.

It`s not worth to get the original gasket for the stock deflector , it is completely useless .

Tonight I was looking at it and remembered I had some marine/automotive weatherstrip left over from another project and decided to run it along the inside edge to keep the w/s from rubbing against the paint. I just reinstalled it and it looks like it will work and it is invisible.
