Regardless of what the impression you guys have of the Corbin seats, to me they are just hard and uncomfortable. I have two buddies who have them, they both are a couple years old and look totally worn out.

DW, sorry your buddies' experiences were so poor.  Perhaps their asses were/are just especially abrasive to the leather?  The last two that I had on Road Kings each saw 60,000 miles plus in two to three years each and looked nearly as good when I traded the bikes as the day there were new.  The one on the red SEEG is now just a little less than a year old with only just short of 15k on it.  In that amount of time and weather it still looks perfect too.  Can't be comfortable riding if your rear is so rough it eats your seat  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .

You may want to check out this seat?
They custom make it to your riding position, size and weight.
http://www.day-long.com/index.htm
It can be made from different materials and the rider backrest is designed not to interfere with the passenger's legs.

I went with the Saddleman. They will add or delete material to fit your reach and the saddlegel is great. Also they will stitch the seams in a color to match your bike. Had them do mine in fine yellow and it looks great. I gotta tell ya its 100% better than the stocker  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] My Corbin on my 94 RK was better than stock also and befor that I had good luck with the Mustang.
Try em before ya buy em if you can  [smiley=banana.gif]

I am in the same boat as jvc58dke (I am his buddy who just bought the 05 SEEG that HATES the stock seat.)  I am 6'2", and would like to be a little further back as well.  My wife rides her own, except for Sturgis and maybe one other trip a year.  From what I am gathering the census says Corbin, Mustang, then Saddleman...

I appreciate the info and love the site!

I've been riding everyday for the past 25 years and I have tried all kinds of seats.  By far the best is a custom seat from Rich's custom upholstery in Seattle.  He will custom make a seat for you based on your exact deminsions, add a jell pad and build up foam as needed.  We live in the area so my wife and I went down to the shop and he custom fitted the seat to our asses while we waited.  He extended the width of the pasenger portion of the pan and added foam, then sent us out for a test ride.  We then came back and he made some more adjustments.  He ended up moving me back 1" giving me more arm and leg room.  He removered the trim inserts from the stock cover and created a new leather cover using them.  The seat still matches all of the factory back rests and I can easily do 1k days.  If you can't make it to his shop he will build you a custom seat based on your exact measurements and ship it to you.

Rich has made the seats for all of the Iron Butt rally winners for the past few years and also owns a '03 SERK.  He has made quite a name in the BMW world, which is how I came to hear of him.  He made the seat for my R1150GS.  I am not in any way affilliated with Rich, but he is an avid fellow rider and makes a great seat for about the price of a Corbin.
