Father Gets Probation In Family Dog Slaying
Huron Township's Randy Pittman Ordered Not To Own Pets, Drink Alcohol
HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A judge has sentenced a Detroit-area father to two years on probation in the bow-and-arrow killing of the family's pet dog.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge James Chylinski also told 51-year-old Randy Pittman of Huron Township on Thursday that he cannot own any animals or use drugs or alcohol.
Pittman also must do 200 hours of community service and get counseling as part of his guilty plea to animal killing and torturing.
The dog was killed in April in front of Pittman's 12-year-old daughter.
Authorities have said the dog didn't pose a threat.
Pittman's attorney, Robert Plumpe, declined to comment Thursday about the sentencing.
