Gramin 660 or Road Tech 660?
« on: June 19, 2010, 11:09:06 AM »

I am seriously looking to get one of the two. I can get either for the same price give or take 20 dollars.  So is one a better choice?  I know both are made by Garmin.

Also does the Harley handlebar mount work on the CVO road glide?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

They are both the same unit. The Harley version does not come with a mount, that is extra but it does come with the dealers location loaded and is in Harley colors. The Garmin unit comes with a car and bike mount is black and does not come with the dealers loaded but you can download the dealers if you want it's free. The Harley unit comes with a 2 year warranty while the Garmin unit comes with a 1 year. Garmin support is second to none and many people have had unit replaced after the warranty was up for free.

Thanks for the reply.

Does the harley mount work with the CVO road glide?  I know you have to buy it separate, but I think some have said it does not fit due to the Hydraulic clutch resivor.

My Harley Roadtech 660 did come with the motorcycle mount.  I just received it last week from Jenni at Tri-County H-D.

The handlebar mount works with the hydraulic clutch.  There are some included spacers so the bracket clears the reservoir.

If you are going to be interested in loading POI's (Points Of Interest) you'll need this - POI Loader for Windows software version 2.5.4 as of October 8, 2009 (that is if you're running Windows OS if not click here for Mac). There are several places that have the dealer POI's click here to see a Google search of them. I use the Zumo Forums to get mine they have them in their download section and are kept up to date very well.

As pointed out in other posts on the Garmin vs. the Road Tech. The Road Tech has a two year warranty and you can get it a little cheaper with a 20% off dealer and the Garmin $100.00 rebate. I went with the Road Tech for those reasons plus the pre loaded H-D dealerships. I figured I was going with the new Dash Pad mount so the mounting issue was not a decision maker because I was going to buy a different one than what was offered in the bundle.

Just my $.02

I ended up getting the Road Tech version.  Waiting for the Handle bar mount to come in.  Got the 20% discount at the dealer and the 100 rebate.

Here is my Harley bracket had it and the spacers chromed also had to add an additional 2 stainless washers and longer stainless screws to clear the clutch reservoir.
