Revolution Performance 110 Cylinders

Just got my copy of August's 2010 E.R. magazine and read that Revolution Performance is cranking out some new cylinders specifically designed for the 110 engine. They come in 117 and 124 CID and are powdercoated in granite color matching the stock powdercoat. Drag Specialties is gonna have them soon. I'm particularly excited about this for the sleeper application :)

I converted my 04 103" to a 124" using RevPerf cylinders, etc.  Their customer service has been very good, the bike runs really strong, etc.  I do have a warning regarding the 124's.  There isn't much surface area for the head gaskets to seal against and they have a tendency to leak.  If I was to do it over, I would go with the 117".

FYI I had a 107 kit for my 04 seeg from revolution performance. Kept bending the pison skirts in two different set of pistons.. Had to go back to 103 with harley piston.. For what it's worth.

Cylinders didn't do that.....installer error

Rev Perf had some plating issues a while back. Hope they got it sorted out.

Rev Perf had some plating issues a while back. Hope they got it sorted out.

For those who aren't aware, the Revolution Performance cylinders don't have an iron sleeve like the stock parts.  The aluminum just has a very thin nickel-silicon carbide coating (Nikasil) to provide a wear resistant surface for the pistons and rings.  This type of cylinder has been used for decades in other applications, from small two stroke engines to some aluminum auto engines, and when things go right they do have advantages over iron sleeves in aluminum engines.  Unfortunately, things haven't always gone right with Nikasil.  Try a web search for Nikasil and you will find plenty of information about premature failures and rapid wear in Jaguars and BMW's, among others. 

Not trying to scare anyone off, but it's always better to go into these things at least somewhat informed.

Research and make an informed decision. I failed to do that before being sold a set of "flavor of the day", err I mean state of the art 124" Nikasil jugs. I can honestly say that I have never seen a cylinder with an air pocket between the cylinder and sleeve(coating) that you could move around with your finger. I hope they have it all worked out now.
