Internal Antenna Recommendations?
« on: June 25, 2010, 05:01:41 PM »

I have an antenna in my fairing and it sticks.  If I go into trees it even looses my XM.  Any recommendations?

Are you talking XM radio antenna?  This person had good results.

Based on all the posts I reviewed by other forum members on the subject... I did not waste my time installing my Sirrius antenna inside the fairing.  I could not find one single post indicating good reception from an XM/Sirrius satellite antenna mounted inside the fairing.  So I opted for a standard 1.5 x 1.5 in external mounted antenna (had it painted the same color as the fairing) and mounted it on the top of my inner fairing.  I get great reception....and its much smaller than the SRS antenna (see pic).

Get it.  Works great.  Took a 500 mile ride today and never lost signal once with the new antenna.  May be ugly, but the sucker works.

What is the internal antenna you have?

Off topic a bit, but I was wondering what kind of mounts you use for your gadgets?  Especially the iPod mount.

Thanks.

Riders Claw is excellent.   I have my XM antenna sitting on my radio in the fairing... I get perfect reception that way, I've had it that way for 6 years like that and never a problem.  Are the older antennas better than what they are selling today? Mine is a Delphi unit.  :nixweiss:

No problems with my XM antenna mounted inside the fairing.
