Plenty of power to be had with good cylinder head mods/cam/compression combo's. :)

I  highly reccomend hillside cycle, my buddy and i were just there on monday (hi Scott)  and a very outstanding machine shop,  we got bigger cylinders and pistons,The cylinder final finish inside was "wow" Both sets of our heads  will be going there, It was worth  the 5 hour drive each way,

Just for clarification I am nowhere near the northeast but if you own a 110" TC the heads in stock trim have adequate airflow and then some. There are inherent issues with the 110 heads that need fixing before any airflow work is performed IMHO and IME.
What are your goals for HP and torque and how do you ride?

I thought I read on VTF or HTT that Baby Dewey (Don) himself had / has R&R heads on his bike.    :nixweiss:

Speaking for myself I'm not sure of the exact build I want. I'm sure it would be way over what my budget can take at this time. Personally I was hoping to talk to a knowledgable and respected builder / tuner that is fairly local. Living in the North East it appears that R&R gets the most exposure for builds. Not sure if they are the best around or how there work stacks up against others locally.  I guess that is why this post got started. I read everything I can on performance improvements for the 110" whenever Dewey, Scott @ Hillsidecycle as well as a few others share their knowledge out there for guys like me. I would just feel better being close to a shop just in case one is needed. With a limited riding season one issue with an out of state builder could cost someone allot of riding time.

My goals would be to get rid of that hesitation in the low RPM range that the early 08's are known for, and lets be honest & increase the fun factor. I'm not bashfull when it comes to HP & TQ.  I would like as much as it could handle and stay reliable. I think a properly beefed up bottom end along with a 117" top end with the right components to make a minimum 120/120.  Right now I have 98HP and 115TQ with the low rpm hesitation.  Frankly I'm a little tired of hearing the local guys say my HOG is fast enough, or I only need to go the speed limit, blah, blah.  Lets be real here, some just can't handle it or find any excuse because mama won't let them spend the money.

I usually ride two up, put on 15k miles every summer on mostly day trips. I weigh 185 wife is 115 and I'm scared sh-t to loose my warranty. Last weeks work done on warranty on my 08 SERK would have cost way over $2000.00.  I just can't do the build and throw out the much needed warranty at this time. When the warranty is up I'll be 59 and probably be slowing dong a bit, saving my floor boards and reducing getting a shot in the ribs when I do a rolling lift for about 50 feet or so. If I could take the punches I would do more practicing.

Oh and what the hell lets make 6th gear usefull under 85 mph. Probably the Andrews 30T with the shorter belt.  I'll probably have that done the next time they are in there.

Basically it boils down to having a shop close by so one can communicate prior to, during and after the build. That is why I ask for info on R&R, they are local. Am I just being paranoid?

Thanks

Ray G.

A bottom up build would get you a 117 at the same price as a fixed 110 except for the case bore, minor.

You want it right build it from the bottom up. There are a few good parts in there or factory parts that just need a little massaging.

You don't need:
A new crank
Roller rockers
A cam with over .600 lift or over 250 duration
High Compression (over 9.1/1 corrected for cam)
A lot of headwork, just the guides changed and a few other things fixed, airflow is sufficient

You will need
Timken conversion (wise move not mandatory)
Crank trued plugged and welded, old style full compliment HD rods or equivalent
The TB changed to the latest HPInc hybrid FBW to get to 120/120+
A great pipe
A great tune

Find the tuner then let him refer you to the shop he works with to get proven results from similar builds proven already and verified

Careful the heads are Big and the low end torque can be hit hard if the components don't match
