shock upgrade help
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:49:22 PM »

I think almost all on this board have come to a consensus about stock air shocks especially lowered ones and especially the 09 versions (THEY SUCK!) >:( Are the new 2010 hd adjustable any better? Some have installed Progressive 440's some go with Works shocks I have been reading and asking questions still not to sure what to buy?  :nixweiss: Here's the deal I am 6'1 260lb + wife wont publish that  ;) anyway yesterday preparing for a trip snapped on the tour pack and took a ride to town shopping with Bsr and bottomed out allot with 50 lb's in shocks nothing in trunk! bottom line need something better for the serg soon BSR said her back wouldn't take much more of that.  What would you buy if you were me? any feedback on the great shock debate would be helpful guys  8)

I just installed the 400s and love them.  You are heavier them me, so maybe look at ordering them with the heavier springs if you go that route.

Bananaman just put them on his nanner and I guess the test was the wifey said that out of all the money he
has spent on the bike that was the best thing Upgrade he did.. So I guess it's a good deal....

We just did the front forks last week-end and he has not had a chance to ride it to really tell, but he said
it rides like a whole other bike.....

Hope this helps.

Hey Mud I just put the ST's I got from Jim (HD DUde) on this forum. got the 13" and love them I'm on a 09 SERG and ride 2 up about 75% of the time with some gear. I'm 6'2" and 275. It was a good decision, but most anything would be better than the crap that came on it.

940s are horrible cranked to full preload and still bottoming out! stockers were better seriously.

that aint good news !!!  Been reading your posts and curious -- No real problems here until I hit a bump 2-up.  Then 'course mama aint happy.

Bike seems to handle fine -- You guys think the swap to the 400's will improve the ride and smooth out the bumps?  Obviously the 940's didn't work for MudMan.  And, are you suggesting front and rear?
