Motor Work
« on: June 29, 2010, 08:15:59 PM »

My 07 is currentley stock, excepts for sert and vance and hine big radius 2 into. Once again having my gaskets changed due to oil leak, thinking since the motor is already apart have them change the cams to se259, 10.5 to 1 pistons and changeing the throttle body to a 50mm.  Anybody running anything close to this set up?

The throttle body has been left as standard ( i think it is allready 50mm)

From a previous thread

.I am very happy with work done
2:1 supretrapp
PC 111
Breather
SE 260 cam
Result 99hp / 107tq
The bike ran very well, but as stated hear and buy the builder probably be better with 10:5:1 SE pistons.

Pistons have been fitted and all i can say is WOW
Will not dyno and tune untill a 1000k's up to bed in

June 2010
The local dealer had a horse power shootout last week and i was second to a S&S 113 that had plenty of work done, I was beaten by 0.8 hp and motor or rev limiter was breaking down at just on 6000 rpm's (another 200 and i would have the shiny trophy) I also have had the exhaust quitened down which loses more power

If it is the stock throttle body it is a 46mm not a 50mm. I don't know why HD  that.

I think we're comparing apples and rutabaga's.  The throttle body size is different on the Touring models (08 and up) versus the Softail and Dyna models.  Unless I missed a recent change, the non-Touring bikes still have the 46mm TB, and the Touring bikes have the 50mm TB with electronic throttle control.  Of course, I could be full of hooey, it's been one of those kind of weeks so far.

BTW, back to the original question in this thread, I think before I spent a bunch of money on pistons, cams and throttle bodies, I'd want to make sure the leak problem is really fixed.  That might require some decent cylinders, not the junk that H-D put out back in '07.  If you're going to spend all that cash on upgrades, don't forget the cylinders.  Axtell makes a great product.  Contact sadunbar on this site for some info on his build.

GRC, you are correct it is a 46mm throttle body.  I looking at a couple of different heads right now, I agree don't wanna come outta pocket for upgrades just to tear it down in another 1500 miles for oil leak.  Ill keep you posted as to which heads i decide to go with.
