Air Cleaner Cover
« on: February 22, 2006, 08:05:52 PM »

Well,  while I'm spendin' money that I don't have,  I've figured that if I do it all now,  I can enjoy it everyday and pay the bill over time..........I like the HD look for my air cleaner (AND LOVE THE DOHERTY BREATHER KIT),  but what's out there for covers (or do dah's)??  I've got a BUNCH (notice I said bunch.....not a sh$t pot full..of chrome coming from my local stealer,  relax Spiderman,  not as much as ELVIS), and that's one thing that I'd like to change.......I've never been a fan of Bike Art or the like......just solid clean lines that add a little touch of class........Any ideas?????????  Pictures please and make????

I also thought about some LED's to light the new chrome up......I know HDude sells that stuff,  who has installed these on their bikes,  and how was the install?????(time and effort,  the Hawg Wired stuff is the balls......Very impressed with the fit, finish and installation.....)

Thanks in advance.......pictures speak a thousand words.........

Notice the smileys.....I've got the paint to change the Cherry Bomb to a Banana Boat (as soon as I get the damaged fairing replaced) :'( :'( :'(

I went with the "airwings" cover from HD and the matching horn cover as well. I used my stock billet cover on the top of the air wing cover instead of the 103 emblem. I then cut the horn cover out and fit the 103 emblem to it.

You'll need a big electric impact wrench to get the compensator nut off, Other than that its a pretty easy procedure. If you don't have the service manual get one so you have all of the torque specs. ANd of course you'll need a torque wrench putting it all back together.

Just an FYI, The air impact may not work. (mine does not). I know of others that have tried air impacts as well without luck. Electric impacts typically have more torque than the air models
