Shock removal/install
« on: July 04, 2010, 12:24:43 PM »

I'm replacing my air shocks, but I dont have 2010 service manual, but I have a 09 ultra manual. Is it tricky?

Since you posted this in the FLHXSE section, I will assume that is what you have--so you don't have air shocks in the back........raise the bike up on a bike jack and put something under the rear wheel to support it and remove and replace 1 side at a time. If the rear drops a little, lower the jack to raise it up until you can get the shock bolt in. Basically the same as the Ultra without the air line part. Always a good idea to secure the bike to the jack to be safe in case the weight shifts......

No I do have the air shocks, that I want to replace with FLHXSE shocks that I just purchased. Is it that same as you stated?

the real question is, what bike do you have? that would help folks understand where you're coming from... sounds like an Ultra that you want to remove the air shocks and go to the SESG shocks?

Remove the old shocks--1 at a time as described above and install the SESG shocks. The one with the adjustable preload knob goes on the left side--knob towards the top facing the front of the bike. It actually sits further in than the shock body itself.
