hk radio question. speakers shutting off
« on: July 08, 2010, 03:01:20 PM »

have an 06 seuc.  Radio has always worked fine till i updated the software.  The first time i tried to do it and it didn't update i noticed after about an hour of riding my radio just quit making sound.  If i would just shut the radio off and turn it back on would be fine.  Got the updates finally done the other day not after about 15 mins of riding you here almost like a click like the speakers shutting off and no sound.  Everything else on the radio works fine.  While i am riding if i just hit the off button and turn it back on have sound for a little bit then off again.  No clue what i should try and look for.

The solder joints on the output side of the radio would break.
The pop sound was because of the low output connection going into the amp would be amplified
1 pop and all loss of sound.

turning on and off the speakers and or radio would let it come on again for a short period of time.
Radio needs to be repaired/ exchanged/ re soldered.

Oh ok.  Its just weird it decided to do it from trying to update the radio.  Or some weird coincidence i guess they happen at the same time.  i guess i will pull the radio out again and check all the connections.  was hoping it was maybe some sort of software fix or reset something.

One trick to get the radio to read CD when making CD burn it at a slower speed.

Another one Marty??

Yep another one, I was not a believer, I thought I could get this fixed, boy was I wrong. Imo This is a internal problem that only a professional can fix ! Both mjb and i tried to getter done and couldn't, as soon as i had Jim (HD Dude) look into this I was playing my radio with a big grin on my face. Jim also put a pre-amp and a aux port in the back so i could run my zumo  :2vrolijk_21:

What I thought could never get fixed, I soon became a believer

 Good luck

 Marty

ps I heard the 2010 radio have the fix in them . lucky us for buying the 07,08,09 radios

I am using Iron Cross for all my HK radio repairs. I had a unit i purchased from a customer from a 2010 bike that I sent to IC for updates., This unit then went into Marty's bike. Marty's unit is on its way to IC for the next victim....I like to keep an updated unit on the shelf  8)

When you guys put in a new speaker control would the speakers work when you would toggle the switch back and forth?  Today when i went out riding after about 15 minutes speakers quit but if i would toggle the speaker switch they would come back on for a minute then off again.  But didn't matter what setting i had the switch on would still go off till i would toggle it back.

Ok was making sure yous did that also.  So i didn't go replacing the switch thinking it would fix it.  I left the radio on for like an hr in my shop last night and it never shut off.  But i guess something in there is a little loose and after it warms up unless you turn the speakers on and off doesn't work.
