I can't believe the milage on these 2005 SEVR's. Do you think so many people buy this bike expecting something else and trade them back in or they wanted the 06's? [smiley=confused5.gif]

Very low, lot's w/ under 500 miles and I don't think any had more than 1,000.

Most were owned by non-bikers with plenty of disposable income that thought it might be cool to own a Harley Davidson along w/ other toys.  Not enough time to ride.  Not really into riding as much as owning the scooter.  Riding not too high on the priority of ways to spend time.  Never developed the 'addiction' of hitting the open road on a scooter 'looking for adventure, whatever comes my way'.  8-) har!  [smiley=drink.gif] spyder

I sold my 05SEVROD with 1825 miles on it. Two reason  1.)  Never owned a bike for 7 months in my life and only put 1825 miles on it. 2.) I was too damn big for it. I looked like the proverbial gorilla humpin a beach ball on the thing and I was never really comfortable on it. I loved the looks of the bike, I loved the performance of it. I had one of the fastest bikes in San Diego county for awhile- - only got beat once ( by a guy with a 150hp 175ft lb motor) It turned heads whenever I started it with the big motor and Thunderheader and the paint scheme turned heads as well. Still, and I posted a thread in the V-Rod section warning anyone over 6 feet tall that they would not be comfortable on the bike. Now, two months after I sold it, I do not miss it at all. I'm not wealthy(in spite of the jokes Beags is always making ) I bought the bike cause I rented one in Hawaii and thought I wanted it. I was wrong, so I admitted my mistake to myself sold it. I got back most of my money because of the 06 production issues so in the end I have nothing bad to say except the bike quite simply was not for me. I don't know what other people's reasons were, but those were mine.

No offense bro,  but I'd make a little different analogy to what you looked like on that bike despite how cool you and the bike are individually.........I can tell you (and think I did.....)from behind you (only view I ever had.......Just plain couldn't catch that freakin thing). After ridin it a couple of times,  I couldn't agree more..........Way fun to ride........not for us big guys.

But I thing there may be a little something else going on here.  The MoCo is exploring a different market here by tapping into some buyers that are on the edge between a "Traditional Harley" and one of those metric bikes that try to look like the real thing.  I can tell you that I see a lot of them running the streets here in Dago (and a couple of real fine customs too.....),  and they are selling them...... they also needed a platform to test the new motor (I don't mean to open a can of worms here), but in not so many years from now......that Revolution motor will be on all of the MoCo's offerings (push rod, air cooled, v twins are soon to become extinct {Thanks EPA....You pricks}).  So maybe they do things right for a change.........spread a few around....get any bugs worked out......before betting the farm on a design that may have problems(Sh$t, if they did that in the 70's,  the metric company's wouldn't have had an opportunity to break into the big bike mkt here))

Although it's not my prefered ride,  but if my bike were down, on a standard 80 degree Dago day and my bro offered up his "spare" (so I could get in the wind too),  I'd ride one...........

Mark, one of the issue's that hasn't been mentioned is the significant change in the '06 over the '05.  If you recall, the information (leak) on the fat tire '06 hit the street waaay early for the '05's to be successfully closed out.  Many dealers that I'm familiar with began selling the 05's below MSRP as early as 90 days prior to the new release.  From the purchases I've seen, the price enthusiasm overtook a lot of buyers who thought they could have a free ride for at least a year.  Surprise.  The fat tire bikes hit the floor and you couldn't get a customer to take a second look at the 5's without offering a near cost deal.  Combine that with the fact that the Vrods are a Harley that doesn't ride like a Harley and the old timers who had bought one were suddenly trying to cut their losses and the market went in the sh..ter.  Have no idea how current the information is, but a couple of weeks ago I was told there were about 900 new 5's still in the system.  Gonna be some good buys soon.

I agree with some of what BLM777 is saying. I too was pissed when I heard about the fat tire and Brembo brake upgrade, but it was still the same basic bike and as I said, I was not comfortable on it. The handling of the bike was fabulous although as BLM notes , different for an old time H-D rider. I also have seen new 05 SEVRODs sitting at dealerships. Fortunately for me, I have a good relationship with SD H-D's top salesman and I told him I was interested in selling and he checked the shipping schedule for the 06 models and found me a window of over 60 days when the dealership would not have a SEVROD on the floor.SD H-D is Number One in V-Rod sales Worldwide so they did not have any left over 05's and they also have a better market than a lot of dealerships. Since I did not pay a premium when I bought the bike I sold it at a loss of only $2,000 from my original purchase price. I got a refund on my ESP of 90% of purchase, so all in all I had a lot of fun with the bike for seven months for a fraction of the cost of renting one. One final note. If I were 4 inches shorter and 80 lbs lighter I would still own this bike and happily post on the SEVROD thread all the time.

From my observation  AVAILABILITY   As I said above, San Diego H-D is number one worldwide in V-Rod sales and they have only had a couple of 06's delievered. Most of you guys are more up on the factory's problems than I am, so maybe I'm off here.Perception is 9/10's of reality and the perception of the guy who bought my used 05 was that he had no idea when he might be able to buy an 06 and more fortunately, he had a friend with a fat tire bike who sold it cause he hated the way the fat tire handled. Guess I was just in the right place at the right time - - - - - - something my friends say I have a real talent for.
