The service manager at Dron's is a prick. The other staff techs, sales, parts, clothes are all really good to work with. I can't complain too much though because I get a bunch of work sent my way because of this guys "NO Service" attitude. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Mike, maybe you can get somewhere talking to Bob himself.  Catching him around there isn't always the easiest thing these days. But if you still can't get a satisfactory resolution, I agree you should track him down.  Having just bought a 32K+ bike, you should be able to get Bob's attention enough to at least listen.  I just don't know how much of the final authority he's turned over to the service manager.

On the other hand, it sounds like MoCo's already involved and looking into it.

Man sounds lke a real stroke of bad luck, topped by a service manager that is an ass.  One thiing that is hard to believe is you listened to a "SALES GUY" telling you not to worry about anything. Not sure about where you are but around here its hard to find a sales person that even RIDES at all and even if they do very few no squat about bikes.

Sure hope you get it fixed under WTY.

well, I think I also found a service manager that knows squat too, I went by to see "how its going", he tells me that the oil filter HD dude put on is for an EVO motor. As soon as the tech put the new HD filter on, the oil pressure came right back up, lmao. I didnt know that only HD made a filter that fits a twin cam. He says that everything checks out fine...so before we changed oil and filter (With a Twin cam filter btw), I was imagining things??, He says they want to kep it a couple more days to road test it some more. Im hoping they just give me back my scooter without doing anything else, I'll take it to another dealership. HD-dude drove it, it has all the power of a honda 750 on a bad day.

Service manager asked how many miles on this new oil filter...Ummm under 5 miles, told him, still ignoring me, tried to claim that the filter may void the waranty.....wait, he said nothing was wrong, so what warranty???, well, he then says, "I have to disclose this to HD warranty dept, I again said, "BUT you just said, the tests on the bike checked out fine!!!". I also added, since your disclosing all this to MoCo, make sure you tell them how the bike was delivered with less than 2 quarts oil to customer". he said "How do we know that was the problem", my response...Cause, if it was topped off, then where did the other 3 quarts go in 750 miles???"
This is getting insane.

Holey shnikeys Mikey, this chit has to end.

Why not just sign the release and get the patient out of the hospital? [smiley=confused5.gif]  [smiley=confused5.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I found out about the two types of oil filters from personal experience and reading about them in American Iron magazine. The Evo filter is less restrictive and doesn't filter as small a particle as the Twin Cam filter.
I had a 1997 fatboy that never spit oil through the air cleaner until a shop changed my oil and used the new Twin cam filter, they thought since it did a better job of filtering the oil it would have to be better for my Evo right? Well it turns out it filters better but in turn is more restictive too. It created higher pressures which cause the oil backup and spitting.(We all know no one likes a spitter) I had read a recent article in the magazine discussing the problem and the fix. I had the shop change the filter back to an Evo filter and the spitting problem went away. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
So I guess the reverse could be true somewhat too. Put the less restrictive Evo filter on a Twin Cam and the pressure may come down some? But as far as the oil disapearing , I don't think so. ;D

Hey Cigar have ya had a talk with the owner or the general manager of the store about the ass they have running their service department. Maybe they think he's doing a bang up job and has great customer skills.
Hope you get it straightened out.

Mike,

I find it to be quite strange that I don't have low oil pressure, and I don't use the H-D 10 micron (or the latest 5 micron) oil filters.

The bikes are shipped from York with 3.5 quarts of Syn3 in them.  Dealer is to top them off when they do set up.  So, if you added a quart and then took to the dealership to do a change and he said you only had a quart and a half in her....something doesn't sound right.  Plus...every bike is roll tested at York before it leaves.  That's why all the bikes have 4-6 miles on them.  Roll test is where a rider takes the bike on a dyno type run, through all gears, electrical checks, brake checks and does an engine diagnostic check.
Like I said...something doesn't sound quite right here.  You had no oil leaks or burning of oil?  Plus, every engine is checked at Pilgrim Road by computer for oil preasure/compression.  Seems odd that this engine/bike would have made it through the multiple checks without being tagged.  Just thinking out loud here.  Cheers, J
