Installed the high-output horn
« on: February 24, 2006, 01:55:46 PM »

Had my dealer chang the horn cover to the wing style and installed the high-output touring horn. Turned out to be a second horn as they installed it. Not sure they were really familiar with it. But it's got a good strong, get your attention horn blast now. This is not the air horn so one thing I noticed is that the horn doesn't always sound right when parked due to the added current draw. But don't much need a horn when parked anyway.

Yes it up under the failring somewhere, I haven't tried to find it yet actually. I'll take a look and try and get a picture.

This was on my wish list as one of the things that I wanted to add to my bike. Does the second horn go in the fairing?

I just installed this myself. It does go inside the fairing and is a second horn. I had to relocate a module that was two sided taped in the area that the horn mounts (I believe it was the garage door transmitter) I just zip tied it to a existing wire bundle. (That wasn't documented in the instructions - they were generic) Had to cut back part of a wire bundle covering (CAREFULLY) to access the required splice points. Used Posi-locks (these things are GREAT!) http://www.posi-lock.com/retailers.html
Make sure to use blue loctite on the mounting points.  I zip tied loose wiring. Works like a charm.

What hell is a Bubba Horn, what does it sound like and where do you get it?

BTW, I put on the HD High Output Horn and it sounds like a big old American car. For the most part pretty effective but of course not like an air horn. The stock horn under the cowbell is nothing more than a "high" note horn and the High Output horn is a

Nice Horn,   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   sure do need it out here in Crazy Calif. Where you have people driving in the fast lane way under the speed limit.
