More dyno #s
« on: February 24, 2006, 07:50:45 PM »

Dyno'd my 06 black/charcoal at Am. Eagle HD in Corinth TX today.  Tech was Mike Sileo....seemed very competent.  Runs were with Rinehart slip ons and Zippers a/c, RT of course.  Un-tuned:88 hp, 94 tq.(SAE); 91 hp, 96 tq.(STD).  Tuned with Map #36: 92 hp, 98 tq (STD);  no SAE graph.  Lastly, Map #36 with a "twist" to try to hit triple digits: 94 hp,  99.68 tq (oh so close!) (STD);  no SAE graph.  Bottom line, after talking to the tech, decided to save about 200.00 and not spend another hour or two to tweak 2-3 more horses out.  AFR looked pretty darn good and I am happy with results.  Maybe I could fax the sheets to someone to post for me???  Yeah, I'm a computer Dumb A$$!

Hey TXBear, sounds good. That's where my bike will go when I get the 1K miles done, if..... it ever stops raining.  Like you, I just want a good tune, not the max numbers. I don't ride there anyway. Lets get together soon.

texbear55   those are good numbers and your motor should run many many miles worry free with what you've done. I think you made a wise decision not to tweak the last few ft lbs and horses out of your motor. IMHO when you get up to maximum performance you are usually running very advanced spark which makes your motor run hot. One of the legends in the business, Carl Morrow of Carl's Speed Shop holder of numerous world speed records and drag racing wins once told me that a dyno was a great tool to tune a bike with but that people often looked at only hp or tq when in reality the fastest bikes are a factor of elapsed time from rolling start to peak numbers, tq and hp. He told me he built a motor once that had a hp number of over 200 just because people had been buggin him about it when the dyno shootout craze first hit.He said that motor wouldn't get out of it's own way because the elapsed time was rediculous, like 7 seconds or something and it didn't produce squat for torque. So, in the end, if you've got something in the neighborhood of 3.4 seconds on your ET and the TQ and HP numbers your quoting, you have got a good strong street motor that will give you a lot of pleasure and reliablity.

Thanks hd-dude!   Guess we lost the tq graph with the fax and too light ink.  No big deal!

txbear, that is the same tech that did my 05 SEEG, that I told you about in earlier post.  Glad it worked out for you, I know that you had some doubts.  Mike seems to care about his work, which is different than a lot of techs.

Enjoy and ride safe

We'll not worry about it unless someone posts and says they REALLY need to see it!  Thanks again!  :D
