V-Thunder Velva-Ride Motor Mount
« on: July 12, 2010, 04:41:47 PM »

Can't seem to find the original posts, but I know mine was shot so I ordered one of these up. In reading some of these old posts, I saw a few recommending grinding the length of the spacer so the two urethane bushings got a bit more compressed - BIG mistake!  I only took off .040", and rode it for a day and I lost all my fillings, and chipped a few teeth I think. It was especially brutal in the 1,500 -1,800 rpm range.

I ended up calling Comp Cams the next day, (the parent of V-Thunder), and ordered a new spacer. Threw that in, and what a difference. I think it's a little firmer than stock, but being urethane, it should last a good long time. The cool thing is, you can just buy the urethane bushings as replacement parts down the road instead of removing the entire component. Pretty nice, but just wanted to warn folks NOT to grind the spacer!
