A Crankshaft made by Jims. They manufacture Cylinders/Motors and other accessories.

 D.Bear,
Hope that you can get your issues straightened out with your new bike. Like I posted in an earlier thread, since the MoCo. replaced my 110, 3000 miles ago, it's been performing great. In fact, I don't even want to touch the motor at all for mods or exhaust changes or nothing, for fear of ruining the great performance I have been enjoying recently. Hang in there, and I'm sure that between your
dealer and the MoCo, they will fix your troubles. For the first 2 years, mine ran like chit, now she purrs like a cat in a creamery. JohnT.

John T. Thanks for the encouraging words!! I think I will call the dealer right now and see what's up with BLUU. They keep telling me that they will make it right with that bike and I am going to hold them to it!!

I have seen both cranks and they both are better than the stock crank.

I am not sure that the S&S crank is better but it cost less than the JIMS.

Both are made the way the old cranks were made by machining them. (not forged liked the new cranks)

S&S crank is very good and cheaper than JIMS. I assume that MOCO takes it,s share and ups the cost.

I think if you have a crank problem, the S&S crank is the only way, to get away from MOCO.

If warranty was not involved, I would have had S&S crank.

My JIMS that was "Darkhorsed" is doing just fine..............

Well the dealer just called me and they have a new motor on order. :2vrolijk_21: I talked to them about repairing the motor but Mother Harley stated that with all the metal wear they wanted the dealer to ship the motor back to them so they can zero time the motor at the factory. My motor with 6000 miles on it has a clearance between the pistons and cylinder of .0007 to .0008 wear. Love that Piston Slap!!!!! I just hope I get more than 6000 miles on the new motor!!

Looks like things will work out well....

No cost and no decisions.........a very good thing.

Down time is the only issue..............

Good luck

Just spoke with the dealer this morning for an update and I was told that the Transmission Shaft had a fwd/aft end play of .0003. They are waiting to hear back from Harley Tech Support to decide if they also want to replace my transmission. Harley Tech support is the one that asked my dealer to check that tolerance so they oviously know something more there at Mother Harley?????? :nixweiss:

Hello-
I spotted this thread and wondered about it with interest. I am weighing my move to possibly purchase a 2008 RK CVO with less then 800 miles.
So- if I purchase this bike and trade my 2007 fatboy in, what am I getting into with the 110 engine?

My 07 is paid for and has a 103 build and runs well; yes have thrown $$$ at it in the process. That being said both of my friends have 2008 CVO RK's and no issues with their bikes....yet.

The 07 110's were the real guinea pig year.  08 and beyond had fewer and fewer problems.  Run the vin number of the 08 and see if it requires or has received any of the "upgrades" (being kind) for the 110 motor.   :2vrolijk_21:

Might check with Black Diamond about his roadking for food for thought.  I know he had some issues along the way and threw some money at it  ::)

It's threads like this that make me wonder why I still buy HD's. Though that may change in the near future.

DESERTBEAR54,

See my thread "Looking for help and opinions."

I really liked what I bought (new), just wish I didn't have to rip it apart.  It was the putting it back together that it just doesn't seem to be the same.
I apparently need to get used to a "new normal" sound of an engine.

My 08 CVO RK (SERK) has had more than it's share of problems.
-cylinder liner slipped aroung 3700 miles
-replaced the speedo
-new ECM
-connector problems

All said, I have over 32000 miles on her and she is not for sale. Best ride I've ever owned. But then again, she has been in the shop more than any scooter I've owned also. Make your decision based on the knowledge you gain. If you break it, you can fix it. It's just how much frustration can you manage.

She's also one of the best looking Harleys IMO.
