Who has Air Horns, Need Help!
« on: July 15, 2010, 05:20:24 PM »

For you guys that bought the Mini Beast air horns, did you hook them to your exisitng wires or did you rewire?  If you used original wiring, any issues with the factory relay?

Thanks

Had a mini beast on my 07, used the stock wiring, followed the install directions, easy install.  I could be wrong but I really think the stock horn on my 10 SEUC is as or just a tad louder than the mini I bought in 07.... so I'm keeping her as is.

They really could have made the wiring simpler if they'd have mounted the relay inside the housing and just have two leads to the battery or power source and then plug into the existing horn wires.  The way they have it it's difficult to make a neat installation that isn't in danger of touching something hot.

I have the Mini Beast II, tear drop style. The relay is mounted inside the horn on this version. Ran a new 12 gauge wire to the battery feed and used the existing "horn" wires for activation.

I have the Mini Beast II as well, had it since they came out.

Used the original wiring, but if I recall they included a heavy duty relay with the unit.

Noticed a rattle comming from it a few weeks ago, when I tore the bike down I had a closer look... the air horn has vibrated the rivits loose.

I'm gonna have to come up with a plan for that one!

Kuryakyn has a new blow-job machine (horn) supposedly a drop in product.  :nixweiss: :coolblue:

Mini Beast had a tent in the vendor lot at Black Hills Harley during the rally.  I stopped by and asked if their warranty covers the chrome as mine has about a quarter-size spot where it is peeling.  It hasn't flaked off yet, but was delaminated.  The guy didn't even question it or ask how long I had it (less than a year), just said to bring it in and they'd replace it.  I said if they would just replace the cover that would be fine, but ten minutes after I brought the bike to them they had a new one installed and ready to go.  I can't fault their customer service.  The MoCo would have probably tried to tell me the horn harmonics sets up a resonance that renders chrome plating a normal wear item.   :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: to Mini Beast.

The manufacturer balked when I asked about the chrome on my horn.
