PCV fuel moto stage 1 trouble code
« on: July 17, 2010, 01:07:38 AM »

Just got my stage one kit from fuel moto, Jamie seemed to be very helpful.  Plugged everything in and now I have a check engine light that is on and NO throttle response (when riding almost seems like its not getting any power).  When you turn the ignition on the light comes on then goes off, then comes back on and flickers for a second before staying on.  It stays on after starting it.  Ran with the O2 sensors on and off, no difference.  I have installed PCIII and other fuel packs before, what gives?  Love the bike but it was way to quiet, and this seemed to be the way to go.  Please help this newbew out!   :nixweiss:

It helps immensely, when folks post with questions, if they include all pertinent information.  What model and year bike are you talking about?  What actual code(s) are being set?  Have you called Fuel Moto and asked about the problem?  Are you running the plain PCV or the Autotune?

Sorry, I guess info would help.  2008 FLHRSE4 anniversary model.  I got my issue fixed took it to the dealership and they told me it was a throttle wire broken up by the neck (BS).  When I went to pick it up, my PCV was sitting in my saddle bag.  They told me it was a POS (PCV), and my bike allready has a stage 1 download.  I drove it home and put the PCV on it with O2 eliminators plugged in and runs great.  One thing I did notice is my tach is now off 1000 RPMS to high.  Called dealership back and they blammed the PCV.  The only thing is that I noticed it before the PCV was put on.  Any ideas?

So they removed your purchased and installed property from your bike without your permission and without even a prior notice?  They got balls.  Not smart ones.  But big ones.

2008?  PCV?  Why would you eliminate the O2 sensors?

Closed loop EFI is a good thing...if you have someone telling you that you should eliminate your O2 sensors you need to find someone else.  Someone who is not stuck in the year 2005.

PCV, Tmax, (both available with autotune) SERT, TTS, these are all being used with success and with the benefits of closed loop.

I wonder how long it will take after HD sells the first water cooled big v-twin before some mechanic tells an owner they need to just take the radiator off to make it run better?    :huepfenlol2:

I may be wrong, but I think you have to use the 02 eliminators with the PCV unless you have autotune which then you have to change the 02 sensors to a wideband for the autotune which are part of the autotune kit.

So let's see....  Using his acquired diagnostic skills and training, the dealership tech first removed your PCV - and discovered the problem still existed.  So he kept working ... found "something else", maybe a broken wire, maybe not, that corrected your problem.  Then he decided he was done working on your bike ... he put your PCV into your saddlebag, washed his hands and called you to come pick up your bike.   :nixweiss:   Wow...big ones.
