What size tires??
« on: February 26, 2006, 12:56:13 PM »

I have an 05 SE FatBoy, I would like to go with 17" rims. What size tires will fit my bike? Any pics of rims on a FB would be appreciated.

I've seen you can safely bump up 10mm over stock, no more without changing out the swingarm and read end hw.  Check with your dealer on fit to be sure ::)

Not looking so much to go bigger, Just want to go from 16" to 17" rims. I would like to be able to order them online. Not sure on the width of the rim and what the tire sizes would be. Maybe I just don't understand the size system for bikes. I am used to the metric sizes on cars such as a 215/65-15.

US tires are metric as well.  17 inch rims should fit fine on your bike, you have 16 stock, check with you dealer before hand ensure you have the right tire/rim combo, though it's not that difficult.  Send us a pic when you get them on.

Vegas
you will need a 150/70 x 17 on the rear, this has the same overall diameter as the stock 150/80 x 16 & you will not need to recalibrate your speedo. Up front should be a 130/70 x 17

Cheers

That is the kind of info I was looking for thanks.(Aussie) I have been flipping through the rags and see some strange looking numbers as far as front tires. Don't seem to be the reg metric numbers. such as a MT90B 16 72H. Maybe someone can clue me in on this system? I see the 16=rim, I assume H=speed rating
