Brembo caliper removal?
« on: July 22, 2010, 10:18:20 PM »

Hey guys,

I just got a set of Motolights for my CUSE4. I went to install them and found the calipers are attached to the boss on the forks with two star shaped bolts. They are NOT torx but have similar head shape. Any idea how to remove them without stripping the heads?? Nothing in my toolbox seems appropriate.  H-D doesn't mention a special tool needed in the shop manual, either.

I'm stumped! :nixweiss:

it's metric. i use a 12mm box end on my cvo, got stainless bolts. my 08tr requires a 10mm box end or 12pt socket.

good luck

What your seeing is a 12 point bolt.  Sometimes also called a ferry cap bolt.  Instead of a normal six sided socket you need a socket for 12 point.  They're commonly available in both metric and inch sizes.

Isn't it great when a new bike not only provides its own enjoyment to you but also justifies new tools :2vrolijk_21: .

the supplied toolkit that came with yer bike should have a box end wrench that will work. but quality tools are always nice to have.
