I went back to some of Jim's old posts and thought that it would be fitting to re-post some of them.
this one struck me

August 2004

59 yrs. old retired with 39 yrs. at local telephone co.most of it as a lineman. Don't ride as much as i'd like 'cause of to many warm weather interests. Wife of 30yrs. won't ride with me since I totaled my '00 Roadking. 18 yr. old kid spun out in curve & hit me while I was riding down the shoulder looking for a place to bail out ( wasn't any ) & hopeing he would make the curve. Took 2yrs. off riding , 1 for rehab & 1 to talk my wife into letting me get another bike. When she told me how pretty the black&blue SEEG was I knew I was going to buy it. This is my third Harley. Started with a wizzer when I was about 14 .Have been hiding on&off ever since. Rode endroes for a few yrs. when Iwas younger.Let me tell you' when you're confined to a hospital in the living room with a broken leg & 2 broken arms you find out how much your wife loves you! Enjoy the site.

Boy,2 weeks is hardley enough time !!I'd start With the Maine Seacoast , ride Vt. & N.H top to bottom & don,t miss N.Y. 's finger lakes , IMHO one of the prettiest spots in the country. Western N.C & Eastern Tenn. is some of my favorite riding & as long as you're there don't miss the Tail of the Dragon just to say you've done it.Go south 'till you're times up. If you don't get to Fla. You haven't missed much as far as riding goes'though The ride out to Key West Can be great on a nice day. Then again if you like tourest stuff & beaches You could spend the whole 2 weeks in Fla. & not see it all.

Had to take my wife on a follage tour this week a stumbled onto one of the most fun roads I've been on. State rt. 80 from federal rt. 20 north to Fort Plain N.Y.It's only about 20 miles' but it's worth a look if you're in the area.No mater where you live the finger lakes & adirondack areas of N.Y. are worth a trip.

Big-K & all you other upstaters,
Little behind in my website browsing as I've been gone most of the winter.Thought it was suposed to be a little warmer than this by now!
Let's plan to have a upstate gettoghter at the Syracuse Dinosaur when the salt is off the roads & the weather warms up a bit. I'm from a little east of Rochester so that might be central for most of us.

Just getting around to hooking up my X-mas Zumo on my '04.Can't get the MP-3 funtion to work.Works OK in the car but not on the bike.I get the aux screen on the dash when I plug the patch cord in but even with both volumes up I can't get any sound.Am I missing something simple or did I get a bad patch cord from Radio Shack ??
        Thanks Jim

Loading's not my problem.I'm just trying to play the junk that comes allready loaded just to make sure it works.I'm sure loading will require my finding a 8 year old to show me how.Don't need a cord to play in the car.The car mount has a built in speaker. On the bike you run a patch cord to the aux plug on the bikes radio.Guess I'll have to try a different cord or find something else to plug into the radio to make sure that's OK. Maybe a mp3 player.

It's working, but don't ask me what I did.Stopped at Radio Shack this AM & they checked the cord for me.It was OK. Came home & tried it again & it works just like it's supposed to.Maybe the cord needed priming.
      Thanks for the help,Jim

That could be it.Looking foreward to using it on the bike.Had it to the west coast & back in the car & it never ceases to amaze me what it can do.Really great in cities you're not familiar with.
         Jim

Got it !! Thanks for all the help Guys.Only time I wish I'd had kids is when I get all fricked up with this computer stuff. They probably would have laughed at me instead of helping anyway.
    Love this spell check.

Lot of people in New Orleans have just walked away from their homes for various reasons.Got jobs in other citys, were renting, got a pocket full of insurance money & relocated or can't see paying on a morage for a house they can't live in.People won't move back without stores & services & stores won't come back without people.Kind of like starting on the frontier.Lots of busnesses on the outskirts still not showing any signs of being rebuilt. All the news wanted to talk about was the 9th ward, but there's a lot of $300,000 &up homes that have been abandoned too.
Had a lot of fun with a young girl motel clerk in Lunchberg Tnn. that tried to give us a room with a king sized bed.Told her she had us wrong that we weren't that kind of guys.
Was a great trip.Have done a few & think 2 guys is the best number for anything more than an overnight.4s not bad but anything more turns into a clusterduck.Just MHO.

Two of us just finished a 4300 mile loop that included Skyline drive,Blue Ridge Parkway,Dragons Tail,Wheels of Time Museum In Maggy Valley, Cherohala Skyway,Lynchberg Tnn.& Jack Daniels distillery,Natchez Trace, 3 nights in New Orleans,Rt 90 along the Gulf Coast to Mobile,Barbers Motor Sports Museum near Birningham,Cherohala again,300 miles of the Parkway again & home to near Rochester N.Y.
Highlites : Wheels of Time Is something I'll do every time I'm close to it.
No Katrina damage in the French Quarter but the residential areas won't recover in my life time.Gulf coast is rebuilding slowly.
Barbers is impressive with 730 motorcycles & art gallery like displays but
IMHO not as interesting as Wheels of Time with Dale the owner starting 50 - 100 year old bikes & doing burnouts in the museum.
North Carolina & Tennessee are full of roads just as twisty as the Dragon they just don't get the publicity.Cherohala Skyway is got to be in the top 5 I've ever ridden.Of coarse I took all the back roads I could.
In 15 days we needed our rain suites for about 10 mins. 1 day.

G.H., thanks for posting that picture, Keats, thanks for putting Jims posts up for us, that was very thoughtful of you, I hate hearing about this type of thing, I didn't know Jim Williams, but I'll bet that was just my loss. He seems to be someone that I would have liked. My condolences to all of Jims family and friends and people that should have known him.
