Power Commander V with Auto Tune installed
« on: July 26, 2010, 12:51:20 AM »

Hello I've been reading here for input on my new CVO
As you know the talk on the web is you can’t put a power commander with the AT on this model bike (also Fat Boy and Springer models) because it won’t fit.

After looking in to this, I found a great mod to get the Auto Tune installed permanently and is done rite. There is a small void in the battery tray and the rest came from my head…

Hello again
well I'm reporting after putting 300 miles on the bike since putting the Auto Tune on,   The bike is running so much better, the Auto Tune has made the bike run cooler, and it sounds incredible,  Ive built the map and I continue to  accepting the trims, its not making many big changes anymore  only small changes to the trim table ,  It's a tad bit louder with these V&H pipes than i expected,  but it just sounds like it Means Business, a deep tone that makes people look, I may get the quiet baffle for it?  impressed with how this bike feels, You are so connected to the road.

It's been very hot here this summer and the bike is not shutting down the rear cylinder as much as it did before the Auto Tune Install.  it will get hot enough to shutdown the rear cylinder but only when the ambient Temp's in the high 90's with high humidity and even then i have to be sitting for awhile,  I came from a 2003 softail Deuce 1450. and Wow !! what a different ride. I'm Hooked !! :2vrolijk_21:

Question(s) ?
I'm real close to the first oil change, do these bikes have "a breakin oil" installed from the factory? I wondering this because I have the 3 year service plane on the bike, one of the bargaining chips i used to negotiate when buying this bike. so Yes i got the service plan at a cut rate. any who . will a fresh oil change help with the engine temps? Does anyone know of a better oil than HD Screaming Eagle Oil in the 110 motor that helps keep the temps down  better than the HD SEOil.?

Thanks

The CVO's comes with 20W50 SYN3 straight from the factory; there is no such thing as a special break-in oil.  You will get multitudes of replies touting one brand of oil over the others, but much of that is more hype than fact.  Having said that, I personally prefer Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50.  Amsoil is also an excellent choice but not as easy to find.  Redline also makes an excellent oil for Harley's as well, but once again not as easy to find locally.

Most important point is to use a good synthetic oil as opposed to a standard "dino" oil.  These engines run hot, and a good synthetic will stand up to high temps much better.
