Screaming Eagle Slip-Ons
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:38:25 PM »

Hey guys, so I've joined your ranks.  My Heritage Springer is sitting in the garage and my new 2010 Road Glide is the ride of choice.  Before I bought it I didn't like the sound of the stock pipes.  I talked to the Guys at Heritage HD and was recommended the Screaming Eagle slip-on.  They even had another bike in the shop that had one on and they cranked it up so I could hear it.  It sounded good, deep, throaty.  I pick mine up from Heritage and am disappointed, it sounds like a friggin Honda.  The guys told me it would get louder.  Well 500 miles later it still sounds like a Honda,, and the end of the pipe is discoloring.  Whats up with this?  Anybody had any dealing with this?  My bet is that the bike they showed me, somebody pulled some of the baffle plates out of,, but everything I read tells me not to do it.  I've got some buddies that have told me to get the catalytic crap out and it will help.  Thoughts????

Thanks, Mike

Ya, I am going to head towards doing that.  Any specific way you went about doing it.  I've heard couple methods, cut pipe empty and reweld, or,, use an auger type drill bit and do it from the end of the pipe after taking off the slip-on.

Agreed on removing any cat. Did you have it tuned as well? These suckers are way too lean from the get go.

Many people on this site have gone to Fullsac performance for help. They can remove the cat for you or sell you a pipe with no cat in it. They also sell the TTS mastertune software to get the bike running better. Give them a call....Steve would be happy to help. http://www.fullsac.com/

I no longer modify headpipes, my elbow is shot. I do have a nice replacement for the 2010 96" single exit cat headpipe.
Accepts stock shields, maintains factory appearance. Remapping with TTS is strongly recommended with cat removal.
Power gains are very noticeable.

Here's a pic before ceramic coating is applied.

Go with Steve at Fullsac.  You will not be sorry.  Also think seriously about changing out the baffles. Steve can be a great help with that as well. Much less expensive than any other and, IMO, much better results. His MAPS are super as well.  No commission involved here.

do not do the auger if doing it yourself. cut both sides of the cat and clean out and reweld. Steve's 1.75 sound great.
