Auxiliary Lighting Bracket Kit
« on: February 27, 2006, 10:24:12 AM »

Has anyone installed the Custom Auxiliary Lighting Bracket Kit (69227-04A)? I'm evaluating whether to make this mod which includes relocating the stock location of the turn signals. I've seen what the 69289-05 kit looks like but would like to see pix that anyone might have who installed (69227-04A) part. Also, what style trim rings were used to match the stock headlight? All comments and suggestions are welcome.

I did them to my last Road King and then to another buddies bike.  The first time was far more of a chore than I expected actually.  Second time took about 90 minutes BI  (Beer Inclusive).

Here's a pic of what the look will be after the change.

Nice looking job on the RK Don. But those fringe thingys are used for sweeping up parking lots as I recall. ;D Seriously considering the relocation kit here, but after adding up the total on needed items: 629227-04 ($279) + 69229-04 ($62.95) + 91124-03A ($17.95) + beer ($40),  [smiley=drink.gif] I thought I let the OCD rest a bit. It is a much cleaner looking arrangement and opens up the front end under the headlight as well. Maybe after the 6-speed kit the OCD will kick in. Let us know how it goes if you go that direction.

Thanks for the replies and pictures.... Maybe something that'll go on the list for next year. Just curious though whether those of you that added the lighting have it hooked up to the aux switch? Are they left on all the time or ?

Pork, the part numbers you listed are a replacement for your stock front turn signals and running lights.

the SERK has wiring in the nacelle for the lights to be switched from the toggle switch behind the nacell just like a standard RK

Twolane, Part #69227-04a is listed on pg 495 of the '06 Part Catalog. For $280 it better be more than just a replacement for the turn signals and running lights... It's actually an alternative to the hardware bracket that comes stock with the regular FLHR models.

Pork, esthetically it's a much better looking piece.  Functionally it's just another frakking turn signal.

I put the same setup on my 03 SERK and wired them to my acc. switch, but changed the wiring that supplies power to the acc. switch so that it always is powered, regardless of whether the brights are on or  not.  That way you can run your passing lights with your high beam which really helps out in the country.  That's the main reason I bought them-was to see better, so it seems kind of crazy to have them go off when the high beam is on.

Thanks again for the replies... Haven't decided whether I want to add the additional lighting or not. There's nothing wrong with either of the two mounting options (one's cleaner but more $$).
