Where did "Screamin Eagle" name go?
« on: July 29, 2010, 02:12:50 PM »

I was wondering why the new bikes ( last couple of years) seem to be marketed as"CVOs" not "Screamin Eagles" I know HD was using the screamin eagle name, starting in 2000,( FLTRSEI ) but they seem to be pushing the CVO name more these days. Fear not, I have NOT been losing any sleep over this, but I was curious.

Because these bikes are so restricted power wise due to current emission regulations, they no longer scream off the factory floor, hence they are now more chrome glitz and glam hence the name change to custom vehicle operation

HD uses the naming convention of "Screamin Eagle" to refer to the upgraded parts which can be put on many non-CVO bikes.  Their use of "CVO" is to designate the bike is the moco's special edition and uses the "Screamin Eagle" parts to show the non-CVO owners that they too can upgrade their bikes using "Screamin Eagle" parts to be like CVO's.  I think it is a marketing marvel the way the CVO's are a riding advertisement to not only buy the CVO but also the "Screamin Eagle" parts.

I think the name was changed to Squawking Chicken, to more closely reflect the actual product over the past few years.  The codes haven't caught up yet, so yes the model designation still says SE.  Look for it to be updated to SC in the near future.

And they've always been a CVO, too.  Just a preference thing.  They're all still referred to as "Screamin Eagle ..............(what ever model)" and they're all still CVO's also. :2vrolijk_21:

My 2007 SERK had the CVO on the ignition switch cover, Screamin Eagle RK on the black ring around the switch, and Screamin Eagle on the air cleaner.
My 2000 FXR4 has none, except the color is Screamin Yellow.
