rear brake chatter/vibration
« on: July 30, 2010, 02:52:04 PM »

I have just started noticing a strong chatter or vibration type feeling in the bike when I apply the rear brake at lower speeds (20-30mph). At first I thought I was having a problem with a warped rear rotor.
I tried the same stopping with the engine stopped (kill switch off). This time no chatter or vibration of any kind. It seams that there is a transfer of engine vibration to the rear swing arm or frame. This does not seam to be a big issue but ???
It is a 2010 seug with 3500 miles.
Is anyone having similar problems or experiences? Any any known cures?

I am having the same issue with a 2010 SEUC and it is there with either front or rear brake. And you can also feel it at an idle. Can feel it at 80 miles an hour. H D dealer dies not have a clue

I just got mine fixed (finally) last week. It felt like the ABS was kikin in only at the rear not in the pedal, and as long as I pumped the pedal once or twice they were firm, otherwise it felt soft.  1st trip in they replaced the ABS module, 2nd trip in was the master cylinder both within 250 miles of each other.  It ended up being something in the caliper pistons not pushing back in after release of the brake lever and causing the pistons to kinda pulse and feel soft next time the brake pedal was pushed.  That's as close as I can relay what the Tech said to me, The brakes are fine now.  HD of North Texas,  talk to Lee in the shop he can tell ya.

This is helpful, I was thinking that it was the ABS but not sure. As you said the pulse was in the bike not in the peddle. On of the shop techs said he thinks it is the module. The dealer is going to look at it when I can get the bike in to him. The vibration is only in the rear wheel brake. The front is smooth.
Again Thanks
