Sorry Carl. Just re-read your post I posted to. I thought it said ask for Carl...  What are the odds? Weird on the deposit "today" as he told me yesterday it was sold already. Maybe they don't want to sell to anyone not local??? Some dealers do that I have found.

I was in Oklahoma City last week. I called one of the dealers and asked if they had a SESG2 in stock to take a look at. They said no but they had one coming in and would call me. When they found out I was not local (work there a few times a month) they said I could look but not buy. They told me it was their decision not to sell to out-of-towners.

Interesting position but I guess they can be choosy. Not good but their choice.

When I first started shopping for a CVO in 07, I heard that several times. Go figure.

"Back in the day"...in this case 1994/5, when you make several thousand dollars flipping a hot model Harley, many dealers did this. It controls speculators and ensures the dealer that he's got a customer who will buy parts, service, etc. An out of town buy and flip guy isn't a customer.

Now, if we could just get more dealers to sell at MSRP...

Capitol HD in Madison WI has an SESG in Autumn Haze - looked like it was MSRP + a pretty steep freight/setup charge.

Remember the days when we were told.. "oh, we can't keep those in stock,  they are sold months before we ever see one"?  I think those days are gone for quite sometime. Mr. Rossmeyer wouldn't know what hit him if he saw what was going on now with new and re-sales. I don't think finding a new CVO at MSRP will be such a chore like it used to be.  And no matter what, the maunufacturer suggersts an MSRP for a reason.  That should be a starting point for negotiating, not at all for going up. :o
I had to wait 4 months for my cvo fatbob the one dealer in Baltimore had a yellow one and a red one but wanted more than msrp for them.....so i waited and paid msrp and got a 15%discount on all add on parts

Rio Red/Black FLTRUSE at Killer Creek HD in Roswell GA (north Atlanta suburb):

http://www.killercreekharley.com/

Likely available at MSRP; just uncrated today.

Carl

PS:  I don't work there; just a good customer.  There is a salesman named Carl, and also one named Elvis--I'm neither.  LOL.

PPS:  Pictures of the bike taken with my cell phone are posted in the FLTRUSE forum.

Red SE Road Glide at Longhorn HD Grand Prairie, TX.  Could not tell what they did to it but it's $41,500.  They also had a 11 SESG autumn $37something....they must be proud of their bikes.

2011 Road Glide Ultra in Rio Red/Black Ember at Atlanta Harley Davidson Lithia Springs, Georgia. On the floor today at 4:00pm. No prices on any of there bikes. Salesman told me it was around $38,000, I said I thought MSRP was $35,999! He just looked at me like I was from Mars. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
