New pipes just wanted to show her off a little
« on: July 31, 2010, 06:01:54 PM »

dealer called and they finally got the pipes in, thought i was getting the chrome D&D Boss Fat Cat but I showed up and there were black ones on her hahaha, the more i look at her the more i like them. Used the zippers tall air cleaner and stock cover, asked if that was going to work because i had heard of some falling off and they assured me that it would be ok, and they would make it right if it did. Rode her around the parking lot and now its starting to feel better power wise and i can actually hear her hahaha, dyno time schedualed for the 17th. Also did the wild 1's 575 bars and i like them alot more then the stock ones. just wanted to show her off a bit. Thanks for the info that is shared on here.

Would definitely call that a fortunate mistake.  Have thought from day one those bikes looked like someone's half done blackout job.  Way too many large swaths of chrome breaking up the theme in way not at all complementary to the overall look.  The black exhaust looks great there.  The small dabs of chrome left really are a complement now.  If it's an accident it's a good one.  I'd lie and say it was my idea all along  :drink: .

yea the service guy told me that it looked good with the black pipes on it, I said "Black pipes?" he then got a funny look like oh no. i said i thought they were the chrome ones, let me look at it. hahaha it was a mistake that i liked.
here is one of the bars, might roll them up a little bit more after i ride it but they are for me 100% better than the stock ones.

Very nice.  You thinking about doing the dash too or leaving that as is?

F.Y.I. With the CVO air cleaner cover and using Zippers "Max Flow" filter, Make sure you use the Mo Co. air cleaner service gasket, Which applies around the filter gasket for greater circumfrence of contact on the back of cover. I found this out the hard way, as many riders have using the CVO cover. The gasket was the fix.

:bananarock: +Agree!! Seeing your pics the black pipes were the logical and only choice! Chrome pipes would have f*ked up the whole black out theme! Who knew they could screw up and still get something right. It looks awesome!! It is becoming my favorite color for 2010. You did good...

Mr D thats what the dealer did. We looked at it while they were installing it, and that was the fix that we came up with. Its still funny that they look at you funny when you tell them " i have read about this and this is the fix that most ppl have come up with" sorry for those that found out the hard way but thanks for posting about how you fixed it.  I have a real good relationship with my dealer and they actually listen to me most of the time, hahaha but i will keep and eye on it for sure.

Thanks guys for the compliments. now if it will just quit raining long enough for me to get her home.  :)

It must have been "meant to be" on the black pipes. Looks great! and I'm a chrome nut.
