CATLESS HEADPIPE INSTALLED TODAY
« on: July 31, 2010, 09:45:14 PM »

...Ok I had my buddy at his indy shop install the 09 catless headpipe that I bought from a site member, on my 09SEUC. On first start up it did have a little thump to it, not loud by no means but seemed like it was breathing way better. Still running stock AC and mufflers. Those mods are on the drawing board awaiting approval of the finance committee. Seat of the pants felt better acceleration thru 3rd or 4th gear. Only rode about 15 miles home due to impending thunderstorm but bike seemed to not be as hot. Was I lazy for not doing it myself? Sadly yes. Was it worth while? Yes I think so. Probably more worthwhile after other mods are complete. Already seems to be running better... Just FYI.

You have barely touched the surface in coolness & perfroamnce.  Once you do the mufflers with Fullsac Baffles, air cleaner & tuner you will thing you are riding a different MC.   :2vrolijk_21:

I installed head pipes from a 2009 Electra Glide a couple weekends ago and I have run 2 tanks of gas through it. Now mine was tuned with a SERT and fulsacs prior and I want to get it re-tuned but what I have gotten is a fuel mileage improvement from 33.xx to 37.xx per gallon!

I removed original header with cat in it and replaced with a cat free header from a 96" engine. Also did Fullsac 2.25" baffles, SERG air cleaner and Steve Cole's Fullsac TTS Map. Have not done V-Tune or a TTS dyno tune since completing the 1000 mile break-in period. Never rode the bike before those mods were done and can't imagine how much hotter the bike would have been without the mods. However, I still find the bike very hot, even with the modifications. Have checked the oil temp several times after riding a few hours and it's almost always about 275 degrees. Current bike feels like it runs hotter than my 103" did, but that may be my imagination. Oh well.

After much sole searching, I installed a D&D Fat Cat 2>1 exhaust system on my FXDFSE and the oil temp. dropped by approx. 100 degrees ! The twin Jagg oil coolers were done at the same time--so I don't know which item did the most good....bottom line is that I now ride here in the high sierra desert and NEVER suffer with heat problems !
Heat and a very uncomfortable engine temp. used to keep me home in the summer.
I know little about H.D.s but I do know that mine is very cool (temperature wise)now.
Stock oil temp.= 325 to 350 (HOT !)----------Now= about 250 (approx.) and this is during Reno,Nv. summer time !

The oil cooler is what dropped 90% of your oil temperature.

If that is correct---the coolers were more than worth the money !  THEY WORK ! WELL !
