what size throttle body ?
« on: August 01, 2010, 01:58:29 AM »

Hey guys, guess you all know that I am a newby !
I really need to know the size throttle body that comes stock on my 2009 FXDFSE.
My dealer is trying to sell me a 50mm but I have been told that I may already have that size stock.
I can't find that info anywhere ! Please help. (this is in conjunction with other engine mods)

46mm in 2007.  110s went to 50mm stock starting in 2008.

FX is a cable TB. Did it go 50MM 08 too?

I could almost always be mistaken.  But I'd thought all the 110s went to 50mm in 2008.

thanks guys--
I called a different H.D. dealer and was told that the part number for a S.E. and a standard FXDF throttle body is the same (46mm). How can i verify this. I don't want to tell my dealer that he is incorrect, but I need to find some OEM manual ,or something that clearly states what size throttle body I have. What can I do ? Wish I had more "savy" about H.D. parts. The dealer that I called was Reno,Nv. H.D. and talked to Service Mgr.--Mike.
I sure hope H.D. dealers are O.K. to build my engine !  What to do ?

I think the dealer is right. Check the SE catalogue and see if the 50mm is offered for the 08-09 110 FX.
Last resort, pull the AC and measure it.

That's actually not an optimal research point.  The P&A catalog is notorious for offering CVO bike owners fitment suggestions for parts they already have or, conversely, suggesting things won't work when they will.

Instead do this.  Call a parts department and ask them for the part number for your bike.  Then call another dealers parts counter and ask them for the part number for non-CVO bike's throttle body.  If they're the same you don't have a 50 mm throttle body.

I talked to H.D. customer service and was told that both the CVO and the standard Fat Bob use part #27708-06A. This designates a 46mm throttle body for either bike. Only the baggers use 50mm throttle bodies, per harley Davidson.
Thanks to all for the advice and to Mike at Reno H.D. for the correct numbers for the throttle bodies !
-----------------think I may leave well enough alone for now, my bike runs well and the extra "zip" may not be worth the headaches !...........................................
