Heat on passenger.
« on: August 02, 2010, 10:31:18 AM »

Has anyone done any mods to take some of the heat coming off the motor blowing directly on the passenger's feet and legs. I've taken some of the motor heat away with pipes, tuning etc. and bike is definitely cooler for me, but on hot days the air from the motor is pretty bad on the passenger.

I put on Kuryakyn 4505 rear adjustable pegs above the rear foot rest and am told now it's more
comfortable and there's no engine heat at all now.  :2vrolijk_21:

My Bagg, You wouldn't have any pics of the foot rest. I have same bike and wife's complaining of heat issue also.   Chilly

you can also take the pass boards off of there mounts then unbolt the "stems that they attach to. Switch the "stems" to the opposite side of the bike. bolt it all up and your pass. boards are now further back away from the motor.  There is a thread about doing it on here somewhere.

UHhh?   I probably didnt read this carefully enough and I apologize if I am stating the obvious but these Pax floorboards are adjustable.  For example the ones in the picture with the Kuryakyns could be raised 2 to 3 inches.  I have mine just one notch forward from straight up.

The stock pass. floorboards can be moved back by switching the brackets.  look at the bike from the side the piece that moves forward and attaches the Pass floorboard on can be swapped between sides so that it moves back and attaches the pass. floorboard.

This is from the original thread about moving the boards

Essentially this is a 5-10 min job. Leave the mount attached to the frame in place. Remove the 2 allen bolts on each side. Leave the floorboard on the ground on the side it started on. Take the horizontal portions of the bracket and swaps sides. The horizontal bracket will now position the floorboard BEHIND the main post attached to the frame and essentially move the floorboard about 6-7 inches rearward. Remember to use locktite when you reinstall the bolts.

Just to update, I added floorboard extenders (1") and also flipped the mounts as Bubblehead indicated. It moved floorboards out and back 3 inches or so. After testing on 95 degree day it was deemed a success by passenger (wife). She said not perfect but a helluva lot better. Thanks for the help.
